    All,

Earlier this evening, I clicked on Anne's (member) staples link and added a shredder to the cart, stepped away for 5 minutes and when I continued shopping eBates automatically popped up, auto redirected me to the frontpage and overwrote the cookie ... BEWARE!

Well how can that be? Wasn't it agreed that this practice would stop? So this crap just conveniently starts up for q4 while last year we had to wait until after q4 for anything to take place. This is BS! This is Crap! Which network is staples with?

Let's see they have 60 days to correct it. Hum...that puts it at mid November. And, opps, "We're working on it. Honest, we are. We really don't mean to be lying theives. Really, it's not OUR fault. It's just that this writing programs is so tough." Wonder how much BeFree will get from it. Wonder if Parasites pay them a bigger cut during certain times of the year.

Mr.Merchant, if you do business in any way what-so-ever with parasites, your products will not be sold on my sites!!

    Guys,

I've spent the last few hours testing generally as well as following H's steps with various delays. I see no active overwriting.

I don't know Anne's site -- I tested on Terrymc's on both a plain Staples link and a redirected link with afsrc=1. (Sorry for all the test clicks, Terry.)

I'm not dismissing it, I'm just saying I don't see it. I need to see it.

If there are more detailed steps I can follow, please let me know. I'll test more tomorrow.

Scott if you find this to be true I wonder what it is that you will do. To have ebates steal commissions is not a new thing to us but to have someone do something about it would be like finding out Santa Claus is real or nearly like finding out Crazy Ben has a thing for you.

    Scott,

I was going to buy from Staples, I'm not an affiliate, so I entered Anne's url to search for staples, clicked on it to buy the shredder and then was called away and then from the original cookie setter ... by eBates via auto redirect..

I clicked on a link within my cart experience and got the usual auto redirect when I go to staples.com. I went back to Anne's site to rewrite the cookie for Staples order # 9141345639.

Timed cookie overwrites are the issue,

Scott it could be that they know your PC info so they don't do it!

If they know how to overwrite cookies sure they know how not popup or overwrite cookies to the one that they know will tell them "no no you have to behave now"!

They are scums and they know how to get around without getting busted! (not yet anyway!)

    Just my 2Cents.

So many things happening and they are given too much slack! (Wonder why?)

Scott, no problem at all.. I don't have ebates installed so I can't check, but feel free to test all you want from my site.

The networks are so ignorant! They run tests from computers at their offices, of which Ebates probably has listed every IP affiliated with that company.

A few may test from home, but I suspect the software knows to shut down when the same IP keeps hammering them.

Yes, as predicted, there will be yet another software glitch, which will take months to fix! They will probably try to drag it out through the busy Holiday season - AGAIN - this year!

The COC is a sham, a complete waste of everyone's time! It isn't being enforced, reports of non-compliance do nothing in most cases except alert the parasites we're watching them!

Scott wouldn't it be a nice PR holiday move for BeFree to announce on their reporting.net front page that .... "Any S/W affiliate or BHO merchants documented as overwriting affiliate ID#'s, hijacking traffic with cookie setting re-directs, or caught violating the CoC terms" will have their accounts and commissions frozen till after January 1st.

Due to the constraints on staff during the Holiday rush period the network compliance team has to suspend the 60 day grace period for corrective action and testing of BHO's from Oct1st till Dec 31st.

Charlie, I think this may be the best post you have ever made. Tell Mike to give you some extra sunflower seeds.

Scott, any thoughts on this idea?
