FYI: To merchants participating in their MMM download.... what will you customers think?
Are these really the people you can't afford to not do business with?

Poon,

You left out their description:

quote:

eBates Moe MoneyMaker
======================
Type: Adware
Threat Level: Elevated
Author: Ebates Inc./TopMovx inc.

Description: Ebates MoneyMaker is an adware program that displays a number of popup adverts. Ebates MoneyMaker tries to disable programs that might interfere with its operation without your consent. This includes popup blockers.

Advice: This is a high risk threat and should be removed or quarantined as to prevent harm to your computer or your privacy.

About Adware: Adware is generally software that displays advertisements. Some advertisers may covertly install adware on your system and generate a stream of unsolicited advertisements that can clutter your desktop and affect your productivity. The advertisements may also contain pornographic or other material that you might find inappropriate. The extra processing required to track you or to display advertisements can tax your computer and hurt your system performance.

Sounds like some one I'd want to partner with also so what about it merchants? We know the NEtworks encourage it cuz they get a cut of the action but what about your Brand? and Good Will?
Continued Success,

Would love to hear the response of merchants and networks on this one.

Seems like the motto of a lot of (if not most), internet merchants is "if its not blatantly illegal, do it"

Affiliate marketers need to spread the word to their customers, maybe via newsletters or some-such...

All along, I have strongly believed that a merchant who associates with these programs will garner a bad image because of it. Now Microsoft, the company that makes the most popular operating system and browser, is removing these programs.

People are going to associate the merchant with a bad thing. It will be difficult to restore a tarnished image.

Merchants who are wise will drop these software affiliates immediately, and not do business with them again.
