Any non-US-resident here that has a US bank account?

Does having a bank account in the US make IRS eyes on me?

This has become difficult to do since 9/11. Back then the US govt insisted that banks know their customers inside out, which is hard for them to do unless the customer is a US person in practice. US banks running afoul of this rule could be in big trouble.

The IRS itself is not an issue - they don't care where your bank account is located, only where the income was generated. If you're working outside the US and a non-US person, you should be fine. You will however owe them 30% of any interest generated from within the account.
