    Greegings,

How long did it take you to make your first sale on your first affiliate website?

(optional: post a reply telling how agreesively you marketed the site)

    Just curious.

4 days from going live. Bit of paid inclusion for Inktomi and that was all that was needed. I spent $75 on Inktomi PFI, if memory serves, and had recouped that within ten days.

I made my first sales commission on the 6th day of our opening the web site while still working on pages and categories. It was poorly designed and EXTREMELY awful looking, and unorganized to boot.

I remember getting so excited that I made a whole $1 commission ... lol. That sparked me to keep adding more stuff and eventually I learned I was making other people wealthy while I was scraping to make a "so called" living at this marketing game.

This taught me a valuable lesson that the only way I was going to be successful at this sales profit game was to sell my own products in the mix of selling other vendors products.

So, we did just that. The rest of the story evolved to where the business is today.

After wasting a month hoping that people would come and buy off of a c*ntent site (nobody bought sheet), I finally made a real revenue page and listed it on OverSure.

It took less than one day after listing to make the first sale!

Now I use Inktomi for paid listings but the basic premise is still the same.

Although the first sale is important, more important is how long until the next and the next.
