I do testing, but I hate it.

Netscape is not compatible to itself and a webmasters nightmare.

Oh! New Netscape Brower version, let's check which new issues we get now.

What's Netscape? LOL Netscape is fast becoming a distant memory. I only test it when I think to do it.

They continue to represent between 0.5 and 1 percent of our traffic. I pay little attention in our site designs regarding Netscape.

The really sad part is that five or six years ago, I would have shot anyone trying to take Netscape away from me, and give me IE

I used to test everything with netscape, but have gotton lazy recently. Happened to visit one of my newer sites with netscape and it looked *terrible*.. should I go back and re-work? I hate rework... I didn't get any complaint emails (yet).

I agree, according to the logs, it just does not justify the time spend trying to make your site work "perfectly" with netscape.. There are so few visitors (Percentage) using netscape...

Up until the beginning of this year, I was coding for netscape 4.x, and would test with ie. The reason I did this was because ie does a good job making sure that it can handle pages designed for Netscape. Netscape can't handle pages designed for ie.

Netscape chokes when you get the HTML wrong. So it catches more errors.

I recently decided to take the plunge with CSS. My new goal is to code for the W3C HTML/CSS validators. Then check to see if things look okay with Mozilla, ie and Opera.

I think that people who surf the Internet with Netscape are USED to seeing sites that don't work correctly!

I used to spend a lot of time making sure things were perfect in both Netscape and IE. No more. I put a notice on my site that it's optimized for IE, and that Netscape doesn't understand some of the DHTML, etc.

Tell that to customers who have an online store up and running and demanding, that their site is okay and working perfectly with all browsers, because the few percent (2-5%) visiting their site with netscape would be customers they lose if it does not.

I can understand them, if they talk about hundreds of thousands of dollars they loose because of incompatibility.

Somebody should buy Netscape and kill their browser once and for all.

I hadn't thought of that thing in so long that I just had to put "What's Netscape?"

I used to test for it, but it hadn't crossed my mind in months, and it wouldn't have crossed my mind again if it wasn't for this thread!

Not sure if "test" is the right word.

I do look sometimes, but I never change anything as a result.

Used to but not anymore. The things that usually messed up with Netscape is the table structure and the background color.

    Anyone test w/ Safari? I don't have Mac so I can't test.

Keep an eye on your stats - that figure may change.

Netscape 7 has tabbed windows, and once you start using them, there's no going back to IE. THEY ROCK!

I've tried Apple's new Safari browser and it's LIGHTNING FAST, but it doesn't have tabbed windows - so I went back to Netscape, which draws pages slower, but those tabs.... Mmmmmm!!

    Yep! Every site I build.

    I test in Netscape 4.0 & 7.
    I also test in IE 5 & 6.

Plus, as was mentioned before. If you can make it look right in Netscape, it should look right in just about everything.

I have to agree with Drewbert, 7's tabbed windows rock!

Netscape 7. A friend of mine has issues with Netscape 7 on his site. It renders pages wrong (first load) and fine after refreshing. That Problem does not occur with Netscape 4.x, 6.x, Opera, IE 5.x and IE 6.x.
Tested with Windows, Mac and Linux machines.

Customers with Netscape 7 already complained and my friend does not know what to tell them, but:
Netscape is crap. The new version has new bugs and we can't do a damn about it.
Wait for a bugfix or download a real browser.

Agreed, tabbed browsing rocks. No going back.

But, I prefer Mozilla.. same engine.. feels lighter.

Opera is also great, in fact in some ways better at this.

I think the percentages may change with AOL and all.... but feel free to stay in your little (big) IE/M$ worlds... Maybe I'm wrong.

I have been using Mozilla for a few months, and now I can't live without the tabs.

I started using Mozilla to get away from all the activeX security issues that IE has.

At the start it was kind of awkward to get used too, but now when I use IE that first pop up/under hits and immediatly I close ie and open Mozilla. Yes it has a built in pop up stopper.

For me Mozilla is my browser of choice for now.

We unfortunately stopped testing DesignerWiz.com service against Netscape browser users ability to view our service. The reason is because Netscape browser does not support JavaScript code language well.

Oddly enough, Netscape invented the language, yet handles it poorly. However, Netscape 7 has come a long ways from it's version 4 browser, but it still has way to many issues involving JavaScript reading and handling codes and requires extreme coding language writ to allow non error issues in comparison to IE. Some codes cannot be created at all for Netscape users due to inability to interpretate the language no matter how we write the codes.

Because DesignerWiz.com is primarily a JavaScript code archive we do not test in Netscape browser any longer as far as our service being able to be viewed in Netscape browser is concerned. (93.6% of our viewers are IE users anyway)
