I casted the first vote here for "other".

The best incentives for me are:

    1)Merchant can be trusted - is parasite-free.
2)Merchant's AM is responsive to affiliates needs.
3)Merchant offers a variety of linking options including deep linking to categories & products.
4)Merchant's website converts & tracks sales accurately and pays on time.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. One more question though, if I may.

Assuming a program tries and succeeds at meeting your incentives, do you have any preferences for any extra incentives, to serve as a "thank-you" from the merchant?

I would have voted in the "It depends" category (had there been one).

I doubt I'll ever be promoting your program, but my vote goes to commission increases. A one-off reward for good performance (ie: a bonus) is all very well, but I personally would prefer to be paid commensurate to my worth to your company.

The preference to be paid based on value is fair. We'll be establishing the value of all our partners in the upcoming months, and we'll refer to this kind of feedback as we go along.

    Thanks for you vote!

    Kindly,
    Michelle

I would totally agree with Erninator. All the points Erni made are the core for any affiliate. There is no point of having Bonus Programs or Increased Commissions if the merchant do not stand side by side with their affiliates and protect their sales with saying NO to parasites and tracking the sales effectively. First thing an affiliate needs is a security that his/her hard earned money is safe.

Yes, everybody would love to get some extra cash coming in through bonuses or increased commissions but that would only be possible if base commission is tracked and protected.

As someone working on the other side of the business, as an affiliate myself, I agree with your Ahmar, and Ernie 100%.

    Hello,

I am responding to the invitation from CJ to post on this thread.

In my opinion you should defently go for both Commission Increases and Bonus Programs.

I own several free paid survey sites and in this market , the only think i look at is the comission.

There are many good survey companies like your with affiliate programs so it is not that important for my visitors which one i recommend.

I usually list 10-15 companies and i noticed that usually 90% go for top 3 only.
It makes perfect sense for me to list there the companies pay me the most, if there services are pretty similar.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Thanks for your feedback, Andre26. I'm glad to hear your vote is for both. We're relying on feedback from our affiliates in order to put an incentive program together. We'd rather not waste our time on incentives that affiliates could care less about.

    Thanks,
    Michelle

I would have voted for "none."

I would rather have a fair and even playing field. I hate all of these affiliate programs that pay big companies and parasites more than small companies or individuals because they think performance programs are cool.

Case to point out. Every commission sucking, cookie stuffing, forced click, e-mail spamming sleezeball for years has been an "incentive site. I say all networks should ban the practice of listing incents and allowing incented trafficers to be affiliates. Any product merchant who drops coupons from their cart checkout and profit payouts and sticks to just Free Freight wins the game.

GM-Ford-Crysler played into the "incent" Adwhore ploy and doled out 2.7 trillion dollars in "incentives" forcing them to the verge of bankrupsy. Keep up the advertising mindset and this industry is toast regulated like the spammers and telemarketers.

Not all "incent" sites are operated by sleezeballs. But all sleezeballs are incenters.

Since I already do the best I know for the merchants I choose, what's the point. You would do better to become a program that gets chosen in the first place.

    Here are my incentives:

    Good product.
    No parasites.
Above average commission according to industry standards.
Same commission for small and large sites.
Good free feeds and other tools.
    Good return days.
    Honest, reliable tracking.
    Few reversals.
    Timely payment.
    Good and honest customer care.
Good network or descent indy program.

    (Not in order of importance)

I'd vote bonus or commission increase. These are the incentives that HAVE made me make greater efforts and I get really p****d off with myself if I miss a target one month.
