In general terms, what will the Be Free and Commission Junction merger mean to affiliates. Specifically will there be one sign-in area and combined reports etc...?
Good question but it is too soon to say at this point. We are evaluating options, talking with clients (advertisers and affiliates) and trying to nail down a plan for moving forward. Rest assured any changes we do make will be to help everyone make more effective use of their time and generate more results.

One thing I worry about is losing access to the datafeeds. Currently at Befree I have access to all their feeds but at CJ I haven't "made enough money in a month" to get access to the feeds

I think a few merchants have given us a clue as to what will happen. Ebay went from BF to CJ, a BF skateboard merchant went to CJ, another one i can't remember went to CJ, Collectibles today who has programs at Performics and BF recently opened up at CJ. That tells me all i need to know.

Well that doesn't sound good Trust! Are you saying befree will shut down and we will be stuck with the slow sluggish CJ interface?

Both platforms will continue. Our clients do have a choice and may elect to use one over another or both. We work with each client to determine what the best long term strategy and solution are.

    "Both platforms will continue."

Well thanks, why didn't you just say that in the first place? I always thought you could so what Shareasale did when they bought Fineclicks, operate them separately. But it was a little contradictory to what you said in your first post:

"Good question but it is too soon to say at this point"

    "Both platforms will continue."

For me i think it's either both platforms will continue or it will be the CJ platform, from the recent merchants going from BF to CJ.

You have to be kidding me. The CJ system runs rings around BeFree's.

Please keep both platforms separate. Some of us do well with CJ, some do well with befree.

Also, the likelihood of technical problems that may arise of you merge these platforms, with the resulting loss in commissions tracked doesn't sound very appealing.

CJ is horrid for creating individual product links. And generally slow even on cable. Then there is the problem of not even being able to tell what it is you sold. They could both learn a few things from Linkshare

It would be great if some of the best features of each network were integrated into the other.

What do you guys think are the best features of each?

From CJ, the interface and from Befree, the transaction details report, the one that lets you see what was sold.
And the consolidated payment for befree would be a huge ++++

I am surprised they did not think of this BEFORE merging.

Thanks for the answer. What I would be most concerned about is the dropping of either one of these programs. I have many sites and thousands of links for both programs. If one ceases to exist then we would have to redo tons of links and that would be a nightmare. As far as what cj has going for them, they do have a superior consolidated payment program.

From past experience, I'm sure they'll continue to support all old links. When CJ switched from their old, longer version of the links to qksrv links several years ago, they left support for the old links. They STILL work, in fact.

I really love the CJ interface. I find it very easy to use, much better than Linkshare or BeFree. I guess it really is a matter of preference. If I'm not going to lose CJ, I'll be a happy affiliate.

    [disclaimer]

From my view point, and only that!

    [/disclaimer]

BF bought CJ, because they couldn't beat them. CJ rocks and 90% (?) of their competition knows that ... consolidated payments etc ... If anything with that amount that was paid ... it equates to a CJ type offering / solution.

Here's my 2 cents, Keep them seperate, I do great with befree and cj is doing okay. How about Direct deposit for befree?? Tired on the delay in checks, when it comes to paying bills, and rent it's hard to pay when your checks end up delayed in mail.

that's all the suggestions I have..

freedom, it's not freedom till you build a business model where you can leave and the commissions will still be there. :0).

Merchants! As long as you are partnered with parasiteware you will not be listed on my site.

For me it's a no-brainer - use the bfree system and we'll all be screwed. CJ has, not only a working datafeed system, but also a tech support dept that are on the ball and available.

Now charging for a datafeed signup - that's chicken shit. It's not like they're selling State secrets, just put a hold on $300 for 12 months and keep it from the earnings if the new marketer can't sell.

    Definitely agree on direct deposit.

It would also be nice to get some public metrics on BeFree merchants, although I suspect that most larger companies would be very reluctant to have their metrics public.

CJ and BeFree's datafeeds are both fine as they are.

BeFree's reporting is far more comprehensive.

I know most larger merchants don't like to pay in advance, but it would be nice if BeFree merchants had the option of maintaining an escrow account to give affiliates assurance that they would be paid. Bankruptcies haven't been a major problem for a couple years, but many affiliates are still gun-shy.
