    Hi,
    I'm new to CJ. I want to remove 1x1 image from the link. So for example, this text:
    <a href="http://www.qksrv.net/click-1111111-9999999" target="_top" >AutoBarn's Special Offer</a>
    <img src="http://www.qksrv.net/image-1111111-9999999" width="1" height="1" border="0">

    After I remove the image, it would be just like this:

    <a href="http://www.qksrv.net/click-1111111-9999999" >AutoBarn's Special Offer</a>

    Is this ok? No problem?
    Thanks,
    John

    Removing the text link just means reporting won't show impressions.

    Click will still show and sales shouldn't be effected.

    It's true it wont affect click-throughs, it could send up a red flag to some merchants and possibly CJ's own quality control when they notice high click throughs and no impressions - the earmarks of a parasite. You don't don't want to be in a situation where your sales are reversed, or your account closed/investigated due to a technicality - and I believe if you read the small print they say time and again, paste the entire code including tracking pixel.

    Now I am no saint and have played fast and loose with tracking pixels in the past but really, what is the harm in adding a pixel on the bottom of your page? You may find as you start to make sales with CJ that the tracking pixel is very helpful to you in seeing what links work.

    If there's just one tracking pixel on a page, there's no harm. If there are dozens, it could slow down the page. I seldom ever use them for any merchant on any network and have never had a problem.

    I hardly ever use them. Over the years only two or three merchants have complained about it, but they had pathetic programs anyways so we eventually dropped them.

    To change a link can cause the merchants not to pay.

    Thanks.
    BTW I removed additional info:
    target="_top"
    inside the link (I don't need target=top). I do the same for links at BeFree. Is it OK?

    Thanks,
    John

    I use the CJ Datafeed. The Impression URL is in a seperate field to the Buy URL.

    To use the Impression URL you therefore need to read the extra field. I often have 30 or more products listed on a page. As I like to keep resource usage down as much as possible, and 30 plus extra field reads for no reason is a waste of resources as well as slowing things down, I don't use the impression URL.

    When a page might have 1 product or 30 plus, the impression stats aren't useful.

    As the Buy URL is in a field seperate to the impression URL, it isn't changing the links.

    Yeah, I think impressions are pretty worthless as an analysis tool.

    I may have two of the same link on a page, one at top and one at bottom. I may have a lot of competing links. I may put the link at the top of the page where it gets the most attention, or I may put it at the bottom of the page, where it gets the least attention.

    When I look at the impressions stats, I recognize that there are so many variables behind the numbers that they have little meaning for analysis.

    Still, I use the impression tracking pixel because I never stopped to think not to. I've been thinking that a click-through without an impression might not be credited to me.

    @Greentea:
    There is no difference if you let the "top" or you delete it.

    All my click throughs where there isn't an impression tracking pixel get credited to me.

    I record clickthroughs seperatly so can say this with complete confidence.
