Some bright bunny at eBay has (at some time - not sure when) removed a WHOLE BUNCH of categories from the eBay system.

Whereas before the Music CD category had a bunch of sub categories such as classic, piano, folk, rock, etc, THEY'VE GONE. All CD's are now in one category only.

Same with DVD's and I'm not sure what else.

So if you spent time build sites with the editor kit that searched on any of those categories, your sites are now WELL AND TRULY BROKEN.

I have HUNDREDS of hours work ahead of me trying to figure out which of my sites have broken pages and figuring out what the hell to do with them.

If anyone else here wants to form a LYNCH MOB to visit eBay in SF and locate the brainless twit that made the category-removal decision, please leave a note in this thread, and we'll arrange a good time to all meet there.

Yes, I'm HIGHLY PISSED OFF. Anyone else?

umm... doesn't the editor kit just search for whatever keywords you give it? I didn't even know you could set it for categories... All of mine seem to be fine - good thing too, otherwise, I'd be redoing hundreds of pages!

The origianl editor kit only did keyword searches. The upgraded one allowed you to keyword search within a category, or just list a category (no search).

Obviously a useless option if the category is deleted!

A couple of my editor kit pages were screwed up too. totally unrelated listings showing up - not the keywords I had set even if it did search all of eBay.

ebay does have a habit of doing stuff like this. I'd estimate that about a quarter of my editor kits no longer return any listings and probably about half of my flexible links are now broken due to minor changes that ebay likes to make in their linking structure. It can definately get frustrating. I really don't see how little changes like this can really do anything but hurt ebay, but apparently they don't see it that way.
