I'm sure I'm clean and my domain is fine too. But, I just got an this email:

    quote:
Dear user of Mydomain.com gateway e-mail server,

Our antivirus software has detected a large ammount of viruses outgoing
from your email account, you may use our free anti-virus tool to clean up
    your computer software.

For details see the attached file.

Attached file protected with the password for security reasons. Password is 17875.

    Kind regards,
    The Mydomain.com team http://www.mydomain.com

Now of course I didn't send this to myself. But the received header has a CJ domain:

    quote:
    Received: (qmail 8234 invoked from network); 30 Mar 2004 13:16:33 -0000
    Received: from gw.cj.com (HELO cteaguedell1) (207.71.241.81)
    by mel.uni.cc with SMTP; 30 Mar 2004 13:16:33 -0000

There's also another affiliate's domain in the return-path. So my guess is someone at CJ may have a problem?

    So...who's infected?

the virus gathers and spoofs email addresses so your guess is as good as others.

wish this stuff would rebound on the author.

I would think the same thing, but I only use this email account for affiliate marketing networks. It's just too coincidental that a CJ affiliate turns up in the return-path, which I'm sure was spoofed.

Someone else on another forum said they got the same virus from an email account they only use for CJ and no one else has access to.

I don't think it is a spoof email, it is hard to spoof header file, I also recieve this email from my affilate network only email. And it is from Received: from gw.cj.com (HELO cteaguedell1) (207.71.241.81) server also.

I get a dozen of these a day from a variety of email addresses.

I for one am getting tired of the CJ bashing, and this is another thing to pick on them for.

Viruses are clever, they will sent to anything and everything @yourdomain.com and pretend to be from anywhere they want.

Report it and get over it.

I don't get dozens? Matter of fact first this year. Not even a customer has bugged me about a virus. I must be doing something right. You however seem to have some issues?

If you don't like CJ bashing limit your time at ABW then you won't have to see so much of it. People don't ***** about thing going right. Do they?

I reported here because I think someone at CJ may have a problem. Wonder what else is stored on that infected PC?

P.S. I would use some harsher language with you, Loxly, but your not worth getting banned over. Just use your imagination where I would like to tell you to go and how to get there.

HEY! Maybe one of the servers at CJ caught one? that would explain slowdowns as you can guess how many email accounts are stored there . . .
but the supposed return addresses would probably not show CJ as the originator.

Judgement cannot be passed until the full headers are seen.

More likely to be someone on a windows box within CJ rather than one of their servers.

One of the many dangers of running windows.

We have not used gw.cj.com for over a year - this was most certainly spoofed and is not related to CJ.

Fakt: I receive similar mail on Email address that used for communication with cj only.
    Corollary:
    1. On host/router gw.cj.com has installed or configured "Network Address Translation"
    2. Someone with access to many affiliate Email address use this host/router for access to internet and not nave antivirus software.

Todd, the received header is from my server and is not spoofed. You may not have used gw.cj.com in a year but someone used 207.71.241.81 to hook to the internet.

I'll just hope you brought this to someone elses attention.
