Strange. Logged on to http://www.lockergnome.com and saw the new banner ad at the top. Links go to Commission Junction http://evo.qksrv.net/amp/click/etc...

Is CJ doing some sort of Adsense-per-click advertising trial for their network?

Nope, but thanks for pointing it out.

This is the first example I have seen - is it on any other big sites?

Has anyone tried to apply to carry those ads here?

Plus still have Yahoo/Overture coming out with theirs, their advertisers pay more, maybe more money for us

You would think with qksrv.net being blocked by all and sundry, they would have spent $10 on a different domain name to launch it from!

If what we see on lockergnome.com is CJ contextual advertising, aren't they in violation of Google's TOS by having an Adsense skyscraper on that page as well?

I predicted last year that Commission Junction was going to soon engage in contextual ads just as Adsense does.

Todd plainly denied that the search they were working on had anything to do with that.

Actually, it isn't contextually related to much, huh? Just another old attempt at shot-in-the-dark marketing.

It would make more sense to me to use Valueclick (the parent company of BeFree and CJ) for delivering contextual ads. It is more in keeping with the orginal design of Valueclick.

Valueclick was this thing where you put a javascript on a page. Valueclick could use different means to determine what ad to display.

BTW, Valueclick taught me to never trust any javascripts from trusted third parties. In mid game, the javascript program started spawning popups. Valuclick also had small number of total sleazeball advertisers. I don't know if I would ever trust a valueclick owned company to deliver contextual ads. Regardless of my experience, there are plenty of people who Valueclick hasn't used yet. It would make sense to transform the parent company into the contextual ad base.

It's called CJ Evolution. They called me about a lead program I used to manage. Seems they prefer CPA over CPC.
