** Posting Here For CJ to Be Aware Of This Too **

I found a search type site today. rodar.com

You input your search term and it coughs up sites.

The kicker is, certain words in the the description of the sites are clickable and it appears that the owner of the serach site is putting their affilate links in OUR site descriptions, etc.

I used free coupon codes as a search term, knowing that Connies site ranks pretty high in google and this appears to be google based search.

Sure enough there she was, and words in her site description are highlighted, but I don't think this is her linkshare ID.

Linkshare ID in the link is: 5L2zZ0Lq3Zs

They are doing this with just about all affiliate programs from what I can see.

You can check it out here:
rodar.com/web.php?search=free+coupon+codes So, are they scamming on other peoples hard work or what?

    *** took out links (Heyder)***

Definately a scam and most likely illegal use of or trademarks. Please dont click on the url provided above so that they will see a bunch of referrers from here. Copy and paste it in your browser and then just put your domain name as the search critera and you'll see what I mean.

    Good catch Michelle!

Now if the networks will just react but they have not supported our cause on trademark infringement in the past.

You'd be better of contacting amazon and ebay directly (or whatever other merchants you see referenced) to get them booted if possible.

    Holy crap!!!!!!!!

You just found a hell of a good one there! I found my site on his search pages with MANY MANY words highlighted in MY description that linked to pages that are NOT mine!

How do we stop this?? This is unreal. Talk about some unethical bastard!

    Catwoman

I just emailed one of his merchants to complain about it, I sent it to the VP of Marketing!

I did a search for his domain name and it is private. What a surprise. How do we find out who his host is? If we all complain to the host and ISP, he'll be shut down quick enough. This is worse than spam!

Only problem with getting him shut down is that it isn't all that hard to pop back up with a new host a few days later...

He has been expired from the eVitamins and Irvs/EE programs and I also emailed CJ to expire them immediately, they don't deserve a 7 days notice.

Everyone should check and query your domain on their search box and you will find out that he is using your content, title, description etc. and then putting links on it and using his affiliate cookies. Save the cookies they create when you click on your own domain or links that he provided with his afid that he/she is using your domain name!

Like I said, the virus spread and become dangerous when it's not taking care of when the virus started!

The merchants and networks neet to do something about this kind of behaviour from these scumbags affiliates that don't have a clue how to do their own job or think of their creative ideas, instead they are stealing others!

But really, what will CJ do? This is just a poor man's Whenu. And they love the rich man's Whenu. So how can they take action against this, and not against whenu?

Nova, I'm not so sure it's wise to advise people to go and search their domain name. If this scum's script is like most search scripts, it'll log the search terms. Once they have your domain name, if you weren't in there before, you probably soon will be afterward. That's just MHO.

Personally, I went there and typed in a keyword that I felt would be unique enough that if my domain was there it should have come up. Fortunately it didn't.

The way it looks it doesn't matter if you use parts of your domain or not!

I tried it without putting .com on my domain and it is there!

If your site/s are on the search engine you will be on that site sooner or later!

I know someone who reported one of his sites to Google for framing search results with AdSense ads. Google investigated and dropped the site.

These guys need their butts kicked on a regular basis. It is worthwhile to report these types of sites when they're found as some programs will take action against them.

I'm not taking this one lightly and I will tell as many people as I can about it.

Looks like he's got his own server... figures! He's not going to shut his own site down, damn.

As a matter of fact, I'm on a mission NOW!

You have to dig deep to find your site. I teried a few basic searches on some higher ranked terms I have.
Mine showed up as rdrw1.inktomi.com, so while it may not appear to be it may be there in fact if you look more carefully.
More crap, more crooks, most likely another one the networks will ignore

The site info link takes you to the rdrw1 inktomi info at alexa
Is this exploiting alexa/amazon search engine results????

You all need to send DCMA-based infringement letters to his ISP and upstream providers. That'll see some action.

The attitude "nothing will happen anyway so why bother" is exactly what NEVER gets any results. If you're not willing to do anything about anything, then you shouldn't complain about anything.

I emailed Google and complained about their search results being highjacked and gave them my own link to look at. I also told them that Adsense ads were displayed even when no search results were found for a certain term, and gave them these links too.

I emailed several of his affiliate programs and told them about his unethical behavior.

I also picked a few other advertisers at random and emailed them too to tell them about their link being "hacked" on that site. Maybe I hit one or more of you, I don't know?

When an ISP or affiliate program receives 100's of complaints about the same person, they'll act on it. So he gets another ISP tomorrow. We start over again. And again. It takes a few seconds to copy an email message and resend it to someone else. Big deal!

Google is not going to take this lightly if this was to hit the news about search engines and all... think about how much damage can be done here. I think we all know where this sort of thing could be submitted to start shutting him down.

If he loses his Google Adsense account, it's money that won't be coming his way. We're hurting HIS bottomline by doing that.

Changing ISP every week will become a big bother as well. Many ISP's are part of affiliate Networks, let them know about that site and ask them to refuse him! That would be another big news to submit somewhere I'm sure.

If we all sit on this and do nothing, you can be assured that nothing will ever get done. If we all take action, and different actions at that, you can be assured that something WILL happen.

Holy Shit! He has got hold of my site as well. None of the IDs behind the links are mine and most of them redirect to a completely different merchant than the one I am describing. I've made a note of the User ID's behind each link and am going to take it up with BeFree, CJ and Linkshare. Michelle I must congratulate you on a job well done - you have opened a MAJOR can of worms here and I agree that we have to go after this and shut him down. Let's keep this thread live so that we can compare notes on what progress we have made.

I entered a keyword phrase that I rank #5 in Google with. My site showed up on the second page of results and shows the rdrw1.inktomi.com at the bottom below the description. Upon mouseover of the title link I get the following:

    http://rdrw1.inktomi.com/click?u=htt...13B6C1748091A3

The URls of the other sites in the results are the correct URLs for the listed site and the URL below the description is the correct one.

It appears this assole is not only targeting a list of keywords, but has a list of target sites as well.

To those who have thanked me... You're Welcome!

I only wish I had never found this creeps site since these things make me very angry.

If you can make money honestly, you don't deserve a penny of what you get. There is a much better feeling associated with making your own money, then with stealing someone elses. When will these pigs realize this?

I could be wrong, but seems to me he is operating under the domain name "capelinks.com" as well. The layout of this site looks pretty much the same. I did a WHOIS and this is what came up:

    Registrant:
    capelinks.com (CAPELINKS4-DOM)
    po box 403
    South Dennis, MA 02660
    US

    Domain Name: CAPELINKS.COM

    Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
    Vlacich, Darren (34037169I) web@capelinks.com
    capelinks.com
    po box 403
    South Dennis, MA 02660
    US
    508-394-2552

    Record expires on 20-Feb-2006.
    Record created on 20-Feb-2000.
Database last updated on 26-Apr-2004 11:55:26 EDT.

    Domain servers in listed order:

    NS.CAPELINKS.COM 216.65.53.63
    NS2.CAPELINKS.COM 216.65.53.64

This is going to be a difficult one to catch if he is operating more than one site, but I've already started the procedure of drawing the networks' attention to what he is doing. I'm also informing as many merchants as I can find hiding behind his links about it and I really hope they will all take this seriously.

Anyone notice how all his Jewelry "Links" redirect to Goldenmine.com? Think there is some connection here?
