I received an email that one of my merchants was deactived.

I went to CJ and ran a deactived merchant report and one of merchants is listed there, but in the last column it says Active.

    Are they deactivated or not?

    Hi Michelle,

Are you talking about Art and Artifact?

I was looking at them today and found the pending offer, which I got an email from them a while back that they are decativated and pulled their links.

I was about to ask if they are in or out?

It's my understanding, that the active that you see on that page, just means the relationship you HAD with that merchant. I've had some show up in that report as pending, Advertiser Expired, and even Publisher Expired.

If they show up on the deactivated merchants report, they have been deactivated by CJ.com. Of course, they could get reactivated in the next few days, but you just never know.

Nova, Art and Artifact was deactivated for a few months but came back online in April.

I also am puzzled by the status "Active" for a merchant who's been designated as deactivated. It's a contradiction in terms.

The way CJ handles deactivated advertisers confuses the heck out of me. I wish they'd just put a header at the top of the list that says "ADVERTISERS CURRENTLY DEACTIVATED" with the list below. The "Active" is deceiving. I thought it meant the deactivation was currently "Active" i.e., they weren't in good standing, I didn't realize it was indicative of my relationship with that particular advertiser.

I also wish CJ would PUT THE NAME OF THE DEACTIVATED ADVERTISER(S) IN THE E-MAIL NOTIFICATION!

Me too, it would save some extra clicking and wasted time.

That "active" column is referring to *your* relationship with the merchant.

It means that if the merchant comes back to CJ, you won't have to reapply--you can just start putting their links back up (if you want to, that is). But if a merchant is in your Deactivated list, THEY are deactivated from CJ and therefore won't track or generate commissions (even if YOU are "active" in their program).
