When I have a text link to a CJ site, must I use their default link such as:

    http://www.qksrv.net/click-1510662-10362263

or can I add something after this to direct the user to a different area on their website, like directly to the registration page. There must be a way to do this. I was thinking something along the lines of:

    http://www.qksrv.net/click-1510662-1...e.com/register

    or something similar.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Jonathan,

Most merchants will allow you to do a redirect. CJ has a tool in advanced options that will do it for you. When you go to get your links, click on the link you want and then click get HTML, then on advance options. You'll see a spot to change the url page of the merchant. Click update and it should give you the code if the merchant gives you the advance option.

This is best done automatically through the Show Advanced Options tab through the CJ interface. If you are comfortable doing it yourself it looks like this:
    http://www.qksrv.net/click-xxxxxx-xx....com/page.html

However, some merchants don't allow or support this so check the terms even if it appears to work.

    Hi again,
    Thanks for your prompt responses.
I've tried the suggestions above and still unable to get the results I want. The links still go to the default page.
    I've tried
    http://www.qksrv.net/click-1510662-1...quest_info.php
    and
    http://www.qksrv.net/click-1510662-1...quest_info.php

both to no avail. whats wrong?

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

I might be wrong Jonathan, I'm definately not one who knows alot about coding but did you paste the redirect link in the Sid box instead of the Destination url box???

    Here is what I get with one of my merchants using the advanced linking w/CJ to change the entry page;

    <a href="http://www.qksrv.net/click-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zappos.com%2Fn%2Fes%2Fd%2F722000224.html" target="_top" >Buy Wide-Width Shoes at Zappos.com</a><img src="http://www.qksrv.net/image-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx" width="1" height="1" border="0">

Your syntax (?url=...) is correct, but the link you're attaching it to probably does not allow redirects. The merchant may have some links that allow redirects and others that don't. Go into the "Get Links" section of the CJ account manager and make sure that the specific link you're trying to modify allows URL redirects. Use the "show advanced options" option to create a redirected link that works, and then you can manually edit the resulting code for additional redirects. But as ToughTurkey noted, it's most reliably done through the CJ interface.
