Linkshare reporting sure is lame is anyone else seeing Horrible Linkshare reporting the last couple months? Cj sure seems to be out performing linkshare merchants by a large difference. Anyway else seeing lame results within Linkshare even though I have about the same amount of pages and Impressions aren't that different, What seems to be your reaction to these stats indys and others, seem to be outperforming cj and linkshare merchants the last couple months.

    Linkshare: June 18-August 18

    66,680 impressions

    2,078 clicks

    $83.75 commission

    April 18-June 18

    55,124 impressions

    1,193 clicks

    $52.50 commission

    Commission Junction reporting

    June 18-August 18

    66,419 impressions

    5,546 clicks

    $280.65 commission

    April 18-June 18

    101,204 impressions
    4,644 clicks

    $248.19 in commissions

Well Even though I'm getting getting close to almost $20,000 in sales(not all cj) and a 4 bar affiliate at cj. I seem to be wondering what the **** is up with Linkshare and To be Honest Some Indys are outperforming my linkshare earnings this month. Even though I'm not complaining I'm just curious something is really going on with Linkshare Reporting. Is anyway else seeing a steep decrease in linkshare sales this month? and

Thanks CJ for the payment! Wow getting very close maybe this month to be making more then my x job! thanks Cj! Know it's time to buy a cellphone!

Okay talk to you all later.

    Jason,

I'm having some great experiences with Linkshare lately. I didn't promote them as much as I should have coming into this, but I'm happy to be using them now. It's difficult for me to really say one network outperforms another though. That really comes down to the merchants you're promoting and the traffic you're generating.

I have a couple good CJ merchants and a couple good Linkshare Merchants. The merchants really determine my income and lately my income has been low not because of CJ or LS, but because of Google.

I just find it difficult to blame a network for a lack of income. Some people rely solely on Linkshare and have little or no luck with CJ. It's everything to do with your merchants and how well you promote them.

CJ's report would allow more then 150 days in prior year so heres all of Y-2003 with divide it by 2 to get estimate.

OK you bean counters and stats gurus see what a pure play affiliate using no PPCSE advertising, only network generated unmodified links in a Cybermall with 180+ merchants of which only 2 get showcase exposure. Discuss these figure and understand I spend more time at ABW then I ever do on this testbed CyberMall.

    Quick Summary:
CJ 2004 YTD $707.36 with EPC of 2.49
    CJ 2003 $1,608.73 divide by 2 =804.00 and EPC of 4.08

    LS 2004 Jan -Aug 18 $1,177.98
    LS 2003 Jan -Aug 18th $1,612.15

    BF 2004 Jan -Aug17th $1,245.04
    BF 2003 Jan -Aug17th $3,207.14

CJ seems even and I treat them as one big pooled merchant. LS fell down by earnins even though clicks increased. BF had the bottom fall out mostly from poor sales by Computer Geeks and Tigerdirect continuous problems.

    Ecom,

Looks like your pure play strategy isn't working as well as it did last year. Maybe it's time to start something new

Snib it's just my test bed site to hold the merchants and networks feet to the fire for the last 4 years. I'm not a competitor, but that doesn't sink in with this cutthroat group. I can only speak with those stats to the newbees. The tricksters, couponers or the diligent site update real players drive traffic to a site or by re-directs to a merchant by dominating the SERPs.

I just test the merchants creatives and ability to convert from a Cybermall with 35 distinct shopping categories with what the networks offer. No feeds or I'd be two faced. No real SEO/SEM so mine should be a valid worse case senerio for affiliates just starting out.

When the new CoC gets strickly enforced and the cookie stuffers get whacked by the merchants & networks I'll redesign the entire mess and come after all your butts, including the SE spammers, and change my EcomCity.com user name to eliminate copycats. Right now the site seems to be immune to the copycats.... I'll keep it the same if everyone here follows suit and reveals their domain on every post.

Jason, what you posted shows nothing. You're making a lot more at CJ because you're sending them about 2-4 times more clicks. Post again but figure out how much you're earning per click.

    I did it for you.

    LS 4.17 cents per click
    CJ 5.18 cents per click

    So really not much difference.

Here are my CPC numbers for the month:

    LS: 68 cents per click
    CJ: 40 cents per click
    BF: 91 cents per click

It really depends on which merchants you promote and how you promote them.

Just divide comissions earned by clicks.

    $200.00 in commission, 1000 clicks.

I just move the decimel over 2 times to the right so:

    20000/1000 = 20 cents a click.

CJ's EPC is listed per 100 clicks. So a CJ $10 EPC, you're making 10 cents per click.

Looks like I need to get going with BeFree and Performics. I did a little work for Best Buy on BeFree but they're sucking so out they go. I'm excited to test these networks out.

Between cj and linkshare, cj seems to be worse. I get far fewer sales from CJ than linkshare, with much more exposure given to cj than to linkshare.

CJ used to bring in the bulk of my sales. What happened?

It's the merchant, it's the merchant, it's the merchant. Not the network

I use hundreds of merchants on all the networks and looking at the overall conversion of the merchants in any given network, it's pretty much the same as the overall conversion of the merchants in another merchant. In each network i have found merchants that convert great and some that suck. Just focus on finding good merchants wherever they are.

I agree with Trust, but have to add my CJ merchants are waaayyy worse than the merchants on any other network. I have begun to investigate the reason why, because it just doesn't make any sense on the surface.

I have a BIG question. Since I read how linkshare works, I tried something with one of their merchants. Yesterday I went to a linkshare site through a linkshare affiliate link and added to the cart numerous items. I never made a sale. All day yesterday when I went back through the same link the items I added were there and the new ones that I added were there too. Today I went to the same site through the same link and none of the items that I added to the shopping cart were there. If they have a 45 day return, then how did that happen? I would think that those items would still be in the cart if it recognized my cookie.

Some linkshare merchants report only when the item is shipped out. So you might see last months sale appear this month, but in last month's report.
