Hello All,

We are releasing an upgrade today that may be of interest to many of you. We've added a publisher report in the "Other Reports" section titled "Invalid Links Generating Traffic". The report basically mines our click data to aggregate the click counts for ad/referring url combinations. The report will show you if you are using ad's that cannot generate income. Moreover, it will show you the ad and the page where it is being used. There are a couple reasons why you may be using ad's that cannot generate income. The advertiser may be deactivated. The advertiser may have rejected your affiliation or you may have dropped the advertiser. Finally, you may have deleted your website from the account manager but may still be using that PID.

Nonetheless, I hope you guys find this helpful. I know it's a drag to replace links, but at least now you will know what to replace.

The software should be in place in about an hour.

Best of luck,
David.

Great! I think I have seen at least 50 CJ affiliated sites that have about 5-7 invalid advertisers on their site! This should erradicate this.

COOL!

That doesn't say it loud enough.

COOL!!!

A while ago I found a dead link that had been on a back page for months, so I'll be looking forward to having the report! Hopefully it won't show any MORE dead links for me...

It's up. Enjoy! It does have some limitations. The script only looks back in time for yesterday minus 7 days.

I just checked it out. David that really is awesome. Hell, I even found some pages I forgot about. Great job CJ. Jeeez, why are people always complaining, lol.

Hey!!! No wonder I never made any money with ah-ha when they were with CJ's. I put the links up but never joined their program. Lmao! DOH!

David, one question. Will this also report links that are dead because of bad coding on the merchants end even though the links should be reporting?

Packy, this report will not show link problems due to advertiser problems. This report only mines for links for invalid relationships. We do have scripts that look for advertiser problems. These scripts report directly to our fraud department.

david elam,

this new tool is, like you, too cool for school

however it is reporting a bad link on one of my pages
i have the same link twice on one page, in one of those links i have replaced the "click here" text with an image of my own, would this cause the link to be invalid?

i have checked the PID & AID numbers several times and even clicked them and cant find anything else wrong, the only other thing i can imagine is that the advertiser was very briefly deactivated, but i doubt that

 any ideas?
thanks

Mr. Powers,

If the advertiser allows you to change the image URL, then everything should be fine. When we show you the link in the report, we just display the banner that we have on hand.

Email your publisher id and the ad in question to me and I'll look at it.
david@cj.com

Regards,
David.

This sounds like a good thing to have

Now, can you all log out of CJ, so some of us can get logged in to get a look

That one was MY idea, actually. If the CJU boards were still there, I could show you the post.

It's taken a while, but thanks CJ!

I have 43 dead links showing. The # of clicks is handy, as yu can see which ones ar the most urgent to fix.

All I can say is that I have no dead links, unless they've just not been clicked in a while

Thanks for the new feature. I like it! I was going to wait for a couple of the merchants to "reactivate", but they havent as of yet, so off the links go - thanks to this feature I don't spend as much time searching for the bad links.
