    From another board:

Looks like they flipped the switch.

Downloaded the Morpheus Preview Edition tonight after hearing from some of my
    peers....

typed http://www.half.com/ in my IE6 web browser

Next thing you know I was redirected automatically to:
    http://half.ebay.com/?AID=5327941&PI...C5FA1502C044C7

Why on earth ANY merchant would allow a commission to be paid simply because the user
typed the url directly in the address bar of the browser is beyond me.

I did test one of my half.com links by clicking on it, and it did appear to go
through with my proper AID and PID.

It is too darn late to start digging in to further details, but by looking at some of
the names they are promoting, This is going to get ugly. (see list below)

Uh oh, a few of those merchants on that list used to be good guys.

There must be some kind of vaccine because this scumware association plague seems to be spreading at an alarming rate.

    Planetwide Exodus,

Thoose are NOT bad merchants, just ones that allow morpheus to get a commission if someone types in their static url.

Please also NOTE that Morpheus is not pilfering affiliate links!

In some cases they do not know.

In other cases, the affiliate managers and/or affiliate management companies get incentives and commission based on sales activity thru the affiliate channel.

It makes them look really good when the affiliate channel starts accounting for a higher percentage of sales (it also puts money into their pockets).

I was just made aware of this.
News to me. Thank you to the individual who let me know. More -very- soon. This is not the way it works over here I assure you.

Maybe not, but what happens if someone visits www. merchant .com through one of our affiliate links...gets a cookie set with our ID in it...then a few days later they download morpheus...a few days after that they decide to go back to www. merchant .com to buy that great product we showed them and whoooph...the morpheus prog overrides our cookie.

Maybe this scenario won't happen often, and maybe there are far worse parasiteware progs out there, but Morpheus is still far from harmless.
