I got around to posting the Cusimano Morpheus detection script on my high traffic site yesterday.

Since then about 25,000 unique visitors have hit pages with the detect/re-direct. I'm seeing a solid 4% of visitors that are getting redirected.

What I didn't do (and am going to correct this evening) is set up a tracking script to see if the click on the provided links (parasiteware/adaware) or simply click off.

Four-percent penetration is higher than I expected, I am NOT amused.

We only put it on the front pages of our site where regular visitors come in, not where we get surf engine traffic. We are running at less then 1%, but since I have run many stories about spyware I am not surprised. We run free ads for adaware and ran this this add for a bit.

People in our forums thanked me for the intrusion of the redirect. A few people hadn't updated their reference files. We are modifying the big script and are going to offer that as a 'free service' as a check for spyware.

I think it would be helpful to know, in addition to percentage, how many impressions.

I missed it too but it is easy to install. It is located at http://www.cusimano.com/scripts/detect/

I have only had less than one percent of my visitors redirected to the detect.html since yesterday but Mondays are slow for me. Most of those were AOLer's. I am going to put links up on the detect.html page to redirect to Gnucleus also.

I have put the cusimano script on just a few pages and over three days I am getting 20% hits on detect.html : They are utter B*ST*RDS
I see their patch is out yet  I reckon it will never come out whilst they are creaming the comish in.

Are you using the newer updated script Gordon? The first one had an ActiveX bug.

Or maybe it's just your old age and you can't remember how to do maths

Another 25,000 uniques (which may not be unique from the previous 25,000) and this time it's 2.5%

What I find most disappointing is that only 10% of the re-directed people are bothering to visit either of the recommended sites for detection/removal.

Gordon, I'm with Guffy, check the version you're using.

Put a link in there to the Lavasoft/Adaware forum. That will scare the crap or parasites off them.

I have it on all my pages (I even tried it on my 404). 3.5% average for me, but it varies depending on how I look at the statistics.

Thank you cusimano for making the script available.
