    Hi,

I just purchased Webmerge, quite happy with it, except for this:

The other day I tried to extract the Betty Mills feed, it hang, on about record 9000-something.
    (Using WM 2.3)
I noticed it was in beta so i downloaded WM 2.2, but it had the same problem, tried it a couple of times and still a no-go.

I did a couple of smaller ones after that, worked perfect.

Now, I tried to make something out of the Dartek feed (BIG 30.000-something )
And the same problem occurd, it hang at record 9000-something.

I noticed, on the test-mode, that the index number is something like 0001 to 0999
(test run only goes to 1000 pages)
That -could- explain why it doesn't run further then 9xxx , its missing a digit then.

Or am I looking at the wrong things?

Did anyone get more then 9999 pages out of it?

    ---------------------------------------
But it beats a real j.o.b.

The only problem I've ever had with anything hanging, is with individual databases (and problems with the database).

I have run the Dartek feed a couple of times, and a couple of extremely large overstock feeds, and they work fine (a little slow on my 350MHz machine).

Worst part was uploading the finished work even with DSL (using a separate FTP client).

Can't think of a solution for you though, sorry.

I would suggest checking to make sure there's no "/" in the fields you're using for the filenames. (There's some other character that hangs too--I think it's "." but I'm not sure since it doesn't come up nearly as much.)

If you're letting it name files serially (record 0001, record 0002, etc.), then I don't know--I always choose a field out of the feeds to name the pages after.

It is a beautiful thing, to do nothing, and then rest afterwards.~Spanish Proverb

    Thanks LEader, I will try.
    I DID use a - , I will try without.

About the uploading, cuteftp pro will let you do a compressed upload (1 tar file)
    Could save you ours

Whenever you encounter a circumstance that causes WebMerge to hang, please send me your settings file, templates, and a portion of the feed that causes the problem so I can add more error-checking to account for such things.
