I have modified one of my feeds - imported an extra column into it - but now, when I try to open this modified feed in excel I am running into problems.

Either I get half way through loading and then excel says it is shutting down - or I try to load it and excel just says it cannot access the file.

I can open other excel files that haven't been modified - so maybe it's something I've done - any ideas would be gratefully received!

It might be worth trying to load the file into a copy of Excel running on a different PC.

That'll tell you if the problem is in the file or in your PC -- hardware or RAM limitations, etc. -- which is usually a good first step.

I think the problem is the file - because I can open other files with excel.

I think an error is being caused because the extra data I imported contained some non standard characters.

Anyway, I seem to have fixed it by saving the file as an xls file, rather than a text file - I can open it now - but it will need to be saved as a text file for webmerge, so I hope webmerge will be able to open it!

Just curious: What are you using that extra column for? I wonder if I might be able to make a new plug-in for that, if it's something others will need....

It was not a webmerge thing - one of my merchants has several datafeeds - I just wanted a column of information from one of the feeds added to another feed
