    I feel like a real dimwit here, but I am just trying to figure out how to get this program to work so I can decide if I want to buy it.

    I figured out the basics of a details template, but I can't seem to figure out what I want to do with the index page.

    I would like it to generate a set of thumbnails of each products in the database (or even 20 products per page).

    Is there a way to do this?

    TIA

    ~Michelle

    Michelle;

    Yes, you can generate generate a set of thumbnails of products (or even 20 products per page). It takes a while, however, to get the hang of using the WebMerge templates AND using multiple settings. Also, to create "20 products per page" on an index page may require some changes in your datafeed using, for example, Excel as a data editor.

    I have been using WebMerge for two months, and have used it to create around a dozen websites. You can view these at the bottom of the homepage of http://bemorecreative.com to see what is possible. Almost of these websites (except CreativeCheese.com and Bemorecreativegifts.com) were created using WebMerge. In CountryCreativity.com, for example, the WebMerge codes used to create a Category Index table of subcategory products was as follows:

    [WM-RECORD cols=4 width=800]
    [WM-IndexLabel: SUBCATEGORY]
    [WM-IMAGEPATH: FULLIMAGE raw]
    [WM-FIELD: SUBCATEGORY]
    [/WM-IndexLabel][/WM-RECORD]

    The above index templeate was used in combination with at WM settings file to create Index Pages based on the CATEGORY and detailed pages that created pages for each SUBCATEGORY. For a more dtailed explanation take a look at the post called "Lessons Learned in using WebMerge."

    WebMerge is worth the investement. It takes some considerable patience and experimentation, however, to get the hang of it. Don't give up!
