    I have 2 fields,
    dog
    cat

    dog has a subcategory, cat does not. How would I handle that for web merge?

    Use cat as the subcategory as well.

    The short answer:
    =================================
    Use cat as the subcategory as well.
    =================================

    The long answer:
    Using "Cat" as a Category and Subcategory field value will tell WM to overwrite the Cat.html (cateory) index file that it creates with Cat.html (subcategory) index file. This is an easy way to avoid having too many levels.
