I'm trying to index nascar-superstores.com using Search Pro 2.0.

    Index Link
    http://www.racing-superstores.com/se...n/indexing.php

I can get through about the first 200 of 1000+ pages, but then the script stalls.

I've contacted the manufacturer and they say there is no limit to the number/size of files it can spider.

I use WebMerge and I've purchased SiteSearch Pro.

The SiteSearch Pro starts indexing, but fails after about 100 pages.

    I've run link-checking software.
I've poured through my db and found no errors
I've told the program not to index any *.inc files.

Do you know of any reason why WebMerge would not let me spider this site to add a search feature?

Can you recommend a different script/software that works with WebMerge to add a site search feature. Note - Atomz is too expensive me.

    Thanks, April

    HI April

If the script is stalling it is hanging up on something... most likely something around the last page that it indexed...

I bet it is a piece if html that it cant read...

if you want a different script try CsSearch they offer a lite version for free...

The only difference i can see is it adds a link at the bottom of the page...

If you know how to edit scripts the link can be removed...

WebMerge just generates HTML; the indexing software does the spidering. If the pages look good in the browser it looks like an issue for the tech support for the maker of the indexing software.

Thank you for your posts. The problem was indeed in my preparation of the data base. "/" in product names, etc.

The Site Search Pro 2.0 script is working great now.

In the meantime I had also purchased csSearch which is a nice little script too.

A site search is super important, and will add revenue to your business. Some who implement data feeds forget this important tool.

I use HtDig which is also free, but takes some knowledge of Linux, and shell access.

I have found a good drill-down structure adds to the efficiency of the spidering effort. You may want to look at the entry points too. Although it sounds like you've fixed the problem.

Thank you for posting that. I get requests for search solutions, and it's good to hear of others out there in addition to Atomz.
