I'm very new to webmerge however I think I'm learning it pretty fast. I got my detailed page template already created.

However I'm struck on the index page. Basically I'm trying to create a link on index page for every DIFFERENT caterogy in the datafeed.

In webmerge under the index tab I choose to auto create a new template using field: caterogy.

However, it's creating a link for EVERY caterogy in the datafeed.

I can find the settings within webmerge to change this.

    Someone please advise

    Thanks

I could be all wet, and usually I am, but I have that problem when I don't sort the feed by category to group all the same together. When I do that, it makes one link per category, when I forget, I get one long, huge page of links.

Do you mean sort the feed before you export it in webmerge or sort it in the source tab in webmerge. I sorted it in the source tab by ascending order but I still got all the records in the datafeed to coming up.

    Please explain more

    Try adding the [WM-IndexLabel] tag.

Depending upon your template and spreadsheet it will look something like this:

    [WM-RECORD][WM-IndexLabel: Category] [WM-FIELD: Category] [/WM-IndexLabel][/WM-Record]

The index tag don't help me a bit it I haven't sorted the data first (O, I've tried, I've tried)
I sort it in Excel before exporting, by category, subcategory at least. That groups all the like so webmerge only generates one link per group.

Your right Debbie - he'll need to sort the data first and then add the tags.

BTW - thanks for the settings on that datafeed. I got the 5 tiered set up and it worked perfectly!

    zimmy,

Thanks. That worked. It only added one link for each caterogy instead of a link for each record.

What tags can I use to get the links to align down the left side of the page instead of across the top.

In your template set up tables. Then put the WM tags inside the table where you want the data to go.

For instance, if you want your index to run down the left side of the page, then set up a table going down the left side of the page. Put the WM tags at the top, inside the table and the data will go wherever the tags are.

    Zimmy,
I gotta hand it to you, you know your stuff.

Now I'm trying make the categories on the main index page go to a sub categories index page before it goes to the detailed page with the actual products.

How would I go about that?
