When I have my WM templates in a different folder above or below where pages get generated, images and links no longer work, how do I avoid this ?

You need to make sure your template links point to the correct folder.

depending on where your folder is, relative to your webmerge template file

I would also look at the type of path you are using to the images. Are they absolute paths, including the complete URL, or do they look like this?: ../images/thepic.gif or this?: /images/thepic.gif

Just remember, the images in the final page that gets built (written) on your hard drive, may work at your site. It all depends on what the path looks like.

I just wanted to add, that I normally place the images in the same folder on both my local machine, and at the site, in order to make this consistent. For example, if the HTML file is written to C:\webwork\coolsitetwo\ I would put the images in a folder here: C:\webwork\coolsitetwo\images

Then at the site I would put the finished HTML here: http://www.coolsitetwo.com/ The images for these pages would be here: http://www.coolsitetwo.com/images

I use the following path statement: images/thepic.gif

This is just my way, some use absolute paths, some use relative.

    Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. Once I changed my paths from relative paths to absolute paths, my images all work.

On my template instead of saying:
    .../images/imagename.gif

I now put the complete url:
    http://www.mysite.com/images/imagename.gif

    Hope that helps.
