I have webmerge. I know absolutely nothing about databases, so this will be a learning experience for me. I'm having CJ set up datafeeds for me for the first time, and they asked what format I preferred, TAB : CSV : PIPE : XML : EXCEL formats.

Which should I select for use with Webmerge?

    thanks

Do you have the latest version of MS Excel? If so, then any of these would probably work.

If you have older Excel or only MSWorks, then PIPE may not work. CSV should work.

Tell CJ what program you are using to work with the spreadsheet.

    Thanks for the replies.

I have MS Works Suite 2001. I don't have Excel.

    Should I go with CVS?

Another important issue with CJ feeds is that many (most?) of them do not include good Category and Subcategory fields. This makes it diffult to use CJ datafeeds "as is" with WebMarge.

I have Works, too. I like to use Tab anyway. It seems that there'd be less chance of there being extra tabs in the data. Data often has lots of commas (and quotes, too) in the data itself, and sometimes programs can't tell which commas are supposed to be the delimiters.

One thing to note, is that feeds with more than about 16k records (I forgot the exact cutoff) won't fit into the Works Spreadsheet. It'll only accept the amount of rows that it can, and truncate the rest. Usually that isn't a problem, but certain merchants far exceed that amount of rows. Just thought I'd let you know in case you have some of the ones with big selections!
