google's numbers for clicks on 12/3 were 935.
cj recordeded clicks for 12/3 were 1,601

the numbers are always off but I've rarely seen them this far off--and it coincides with a steep drop in sales from google links for the last couple of days.

Likly unrelated is the CNN article about Google's problems with fraudulent clicks.

there's an interesting slashdot discussion of the matter here.

This is why I've stopped using AdWords. Something just doesn't seem to be right with them anymore, and I feel it's just a waste of my hard-earned money to keep on advertising just to give the scam artists a way of reaping the rewards.

maybe. however, google's numbers are half of what cj reports--so in theory that would work to the marketers advantage.

As well sales on the first couple days of any month tend to be slower than the last couple days of the previous month.

another possibility may be the number of people doing ppc from cj. cj's sept conference was about ppc. I didn't attend but according to the promo's for the program-- ppc was what cj's annual event was susposed to be about.

There has been a pretty steady decline in profit margins on ppc from google for the last couple years. Seems to me the trend has accelerated since sept.
