I know I've emailed you about this Brian and you are trying to sort it out, but I have had problems with several of my merchants not recording sales in real time. What they do is manually record a $0.05 sale, then (thereotically) verify or cancel the sale 30 to 60 days later at which point I supposedly either get my real commission or the 0.05 is lost. This doesn't seem to be happening.

However, I have had enough of this, as Brian knows - if I make a sale, I expect to see it recorded; if it gets reserved, I expect to see it reversed. As far as I am concerned, these merchants are sitting on my money and I would like Shareasale not only to sort it out, but to ensure that this doesn't happen again.

Mark,

Im working on this one for you as you know....not only to get the commissions posted, but also to get them to stop doing this. I have asked, believe me... What I can't seem to get across is that it is a big annoyance to the affiliate (you)...and I might suggest sending a (kind) letter to the merchant directly as well, encouraging them to post the commissions sooner...and emphasizing that you understand that reversals happen...etc...

Ill continue to talk to the remaining merchants that are setup this way ( we no longer allow merchants to setup their accounts this way, but the accounts in question were from a while ago, when we did allow this....and we don't believe in changing the rules in the middle...) and..hopefully we'll get somewhere on this. Ill post emails to you privately on the situation with your own account...

I understand this is one of the current weaknesses in the system, and am currently racking my brain for some other ideas to solve the problem...although the number of merchants on this particular setup is very small...around 5 or so..

Okay, Brian, I will email them myself as well. And I do appreciate your help on this, but maybe you should impose this as a rule change across the board, as I seem to have signed up to all 5 merchants that do this

yes, you do happen to be a part of most of the programs still doing this....for some reason they are all in the same industry, and all joined about the same time. for whatever reason...but there are a group of people that are in your same boat as well, and so im working on things for them also...

Okay, an update on this for anyone that is interested.

I did as Brian suggested and emailed the merchant I was most concerned about, with a pretty shoddy response to be quite honest. The essence of it was 'we don't have time to post sales in real time ' - frankly, that is not good enough, particularly as this merchant seems unable to validate and credit me with the sale within 30-60 days.

Below are the emails exchanged. Note that as yet I have not received a response to my last email. I am dropping this merchant (of course), but would like some kind of guarantee that I will be credited for the sales I have already made.

Juliet,

Thanks for your response. I don't actually want to remove you from the site.
What I would like is for you to honour your promise to post the sales in 30
to 60 days.

I too work very hard on my business and understand the problems of time
management. And one of the things I set aside the time to do is to ensure
that people I owe money to are paid in a timely manner. In essence, I am
asking you to take a couple of hours or so to make good on your promises.
There are still outstanding amounts from February and early March and I
think it would be in your interests as well as mine to credit me with the
commissions due. That way I will feel more comfortable in continuing to
promote your site and you will continue to generate business from it.

Thanks,

Mark
-------------------------------------------

That's it. I don't think I was being unreasonable there was I ?

mark,

thanks for the update...im not too happy with the response either, and will review their status on shareasale.com based on it. There were a couple of other merchants that we were dealing with for this situation...and from what i understand from them, the commissions have been posted...please let me know if you feel this is not the case.

as for this merchant, i will make sure that you are credited for these sales...and I will speak to them again about it, and about other sales...i understand completely that you are wishing to drop them from your pages...they didn't exactly make a pitch to keep you. we have many honest, hardworking merchants who treat their affiliates very well, unfortunately, there are some merchants who do not understand the value of the affiliate, and although we tell them all the time to treat their relationships with care...they don't always listen.

ill post an update to you when i hear back again from the merchant in question...

Brian,

Yeah, the other merchants have posted the sales. No problems there at all.

I look foward to your response re: swimsuitsjustforus. Shame really, as summer is coming and the amount of traffic would increase for this niche.

Mark
