I just noticed I couldn't log in to check stats, got worried and checked a link, and it didn't work.

Not much point in checking stats, if my links don't work.

    OK here is the deal...

there are two seperate issues, and we are going to take care of them tonight with some maintenance - so that the sporadic downtime doesn't continue... basically the problem is with the firewall - and not the data servers, but either way the result is downtime.

we are going to be replacing some hardware and software this evening that appears to have gone "flaky" before any hard failure occurs... but their could be patches of downtime in blocks of 10-20 minutes or so this evening and night.

    Thanks,

They are correcting the problem with the firewall now ... should be fixed shortly and back up - the other problem will be corrected later in the middle of the night so most of you don't notice.

I was on a roll but all sales just stopped when the site started having problems today. Are some unreported or is this just coincidence, or what?

    Anyone else see this?

    Changes/Fixes went smoothly...

Firewall was replaced resulting in about 20 minutes downtime around 8PM last night while cables were being swapped/switched, etc...

Later, in a planned pro-active move - the Disk IO controller was replaced resulting in about 20-30 minutes of downtime while the server was being re-fitted. The controller was acting up, and could have caused a more serious problem later...so it was taken out while still technically working.

All in all, it went well and things have been smooth since.

SSanf - i am sorry that your roll stopped (hope it started again) .. but at this time all transactions are reported (that were tracked) ... obviously there were some that were missed during the fixes... but we tried to keep it as minimal as possible..

    Thanks,
