I can see how this is needed if you earn over $600 per year, buy why is it required when signing up? I have had two posible affiliates refuse to sign up due to this requirement.

Any other merchants have this issue?

Because chances are if you're any kind of affiliate and not some assclown you're gonna earn more than $600... and its a hassle to get it later rather than sooner...

People are becoming more skeptical about giving up SS numbers. My suggestion is if you don't like to give up your SS number, then apply for a Federal ID number. Its easy and can be done on-line.

SS or FEDID is required. Getting this info AFTER the fact would not be a good plan for us.

The general sigup page has a link in the middle of it that says

To view this page via a SSL Secure Connection, click here.

If you are linking to the co-branded signup page, you can choose to do so via SSL by linking it to...

    https://shareasale.com/shareasale.cfm?merchantID=xxxx

    instead of

    http://www.shareasale.com/shareasale...erchantID=xxxx

Note, there is no www. in the SSL version.

We have had users request to send in forms via mail or fax as well, and have been ok with that - as long as they were received in a timely manner from signup.

    Thanks,

FYI - The IRS does not REQUIRE anyone to provide SSNs or TAXID numbers prior to earning $600 in a calendar year.

Furthermore, the IRS does not allow ANYONE to withhold ANY payments based upon not having received a W-9 form.

I know a lot of programs that try to pull that because it is convenient for them (NOT speaking of SAS (Ive made more than $600 there), but others who have attempted to do this to us!) Its crazy the crap they try to get by with!
