I'm new to Shareasale & am having trouble with getting traffic to my site.

I already registered my site with Yahoo, Google, Jeeves, & a few others.

Are there more search engines that you have to register with???

    Thanks

Your best bed would be to dig through the archives here at ABW. There's enough good information here to keep you busy reading for weeks.

#1 piece of advice: learn the search engines!

    I agree with ifb...

just because you "registered" with yahoo, google, etc.. doesnt mean anything more, than at sometime in the future your site will be visited by their bot.

just remember it takes on the average, 90 days to get listed in yahoo or google if you get listed at all!

    Lillys,

Welcome to webmastering. Getting traffic is the most difficult and most necessary part to creating a website. You need to start forming alliances with other websites so you can get a couple incoming links. When the search engines see other sites linking to you, the'll start to link to you. It's really a catch-22. You need to prove that you've got traffic before they'll give you traffic. Of course you could make a super kick-ass website and buy traffic from AdWords or Overture and collect email addresses from your visitors for newsletters. There are a ton of ways to go about this, but when it comes down to it you have to offer something valuable that few other websites offer.

I've been reading since Sept. 2002 and I'm still not done... there really is TOO much information here on ABW. Haiko should condense all the information here into a single book, Affiliate Marketing for Dummies!

The problem seems to be the opposite, there are too many "dummies for affiliate marketing." When I started I think in 1998 (whol remembers that long back) I didn't make $1000 the whole year and it seems to me that, with all you have to learn, in your first year of affil;iate marketing you really shouldn't expect to make more than that even today. Too many people think they can get rich quick, but like all businesses, it takes time and you have to be in it for the long hall.
