Here is what I want to do:
http://www.thehotmeter.com

I have searched everywhere but cannot find a script written to do this. On top of that everyone who is doing it is also doing a damned good job of concealing their script. It seems to be .php bases but I can't be sure. Can anyone point me in the right direction please!?

Thanks in advance.

Guffy, I have not had time to attempt it at all. I will have to put it on a server with unlimited bandwidth. Is going to mean opening a new account and editing the scripts. I think it will need to wait until after the holidays.

Have you gotten it fixed on your site?

ps- I found unlimited bandwidth and 100mb storage at amhosting.com for like 12.00 US a month. Nobody else even comes close to that price!

Seems to be working OK presently.

Very little traffic though as it's on a new server and not linked to from much else yet.

But it sure wins over a mailing list, about 50% of visitors who do find the site register, even though it states they only need to if intending to upload a picture.

No problem with broken links from those not loading an image either.

Just need to wait patiently for Mr Googlebot now.

I'm still adding some revenue pages to the site and will send you the url for your perusal when completed.

Can you recommend any reliable CPM banner ad networks?

Guffy, I have been struck with quite the dilems concerning this script.

It seems that with people leaving messages for other users, and on top of that the fact that the script keeps writing every time a vote is cast, it has eaten up all my disc space.

This is bad, simply put it has occupied 2-3 MB per day for the last couple weeks.

It has used over 50 MB since I opened it on a small scale. (There are only 700 or so votes on each pic) Since I lost athe ability to save pages to my server when I exceeded the limit I had to erase all data from the voting.

At this point I have had to close the door to the script until I can find a viable solution.

When I embarked on this I never imagined it would be so costly to run the site.

I only I could find a way to monetize the traffic. Without the existence of decent cpm offers I know not what to do.

I'll keep you updated. <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon36.gif>

CPM where are you?

I have been trying various options to reduce both disc space usage and bandwidth.

By reducing the picture sizes and re-optimising after user uploads to a max of 10KB this has saved a massive chunk of bandwidth and disk space. Picture quality is still not too bad.
Image size is around 200 x 300

So far 1700 page views has = 30MB bandwidth.

I am also considering removing the add comments to picture link.
This has bothered me for a while and after checking out some other sites where I have seen some quite obscene messages it is bothering me even more now.

A CPM banner rate from around $3.50 would be perfect.

Guffy, Sorry but that last post of mine was a false alarm.

It turns out the culprit was my error handler writing each instance of an error to a .dat file.

<IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif> OK

But it still gobbles up the bandwidth eh!
