Hi. My hubby's Union Local wants me to build a site with a password protected area. What they want is to have a members only area and for the password to be each persons personal union number. There are approx 1000 members -- hence 1000 passwords.
I have no idea how to do this. I volunteered to make a simple site and now this -eeekkkk! lol
Is there a way to easily do this for someone like me who doesn't know a lot of programming?
Thank so much!!!

I think it depends on your web server, but Apache uses .htaccess files.
There lot's of tutorials on the web (Just lookup .htaccess on Google), but a lot of these seem to require Shell access to the Apache server.
I've not actually tried any of this myself!
What type of server are you running?

Oh and don't forget, you can also do file sharing, calenders and messaging using Yahoo! Groups, which may be even easier.
