I wish I would have listened to the experienced hosting veterans here and not wasted my time with Globat.com. Not only does there program convert like crap, but the sales I got last month all came up with red ink this month. What a joke. Affiliates beware!

They are horrible. StartLogic is no better, they don't pay at all.
In my mind, hosting pages - Adsense!
It is too bad CJ has let it get that bad.

Sounds like CJ needs to take a HARD look at them. 100% return rate is BULLSHOOT! They would go out of business in short order if that were truly the case. Sounds like fraud to me.

I know why Globat has a 100% return rate. I made a post about it here a month or two ago.
They reverse your $90 commission and replace it with a $65 bonus. I guess sometimes they reverse it all and replace it with nothing.
This increases their 7 Day EPC and makes them look like they are really doing well.
Globat is the most dishonest company I have found here and CJ fully supports them in their dishonesty. I made several posts here regarding Globat and CJ supporting their shady techniques.

I tell ya, web hosting = Adsense, but only if you like getting paid.

Globat has been asking me to place them in the top 3 hosts on a 'trial basis' for quite awhile. I was promised a higher $ rate which was never changed.

My top 3 program are based on comissions received - not on promises.

I would stay away from Globat at this point.

C'mon, try to top THIS Globat story:

A friend in LA wanted a website. I told her I'd get her the domain and host.

Got her host thru Globat and my commission showed up. Great.

Then... a reversal? So I email the generic contact listed at CJ:

    Subject: CJ Reversals

Someone from Globat once contacted me. I found the email and contacted him... no response

I called. Voice mail that says... please send an email to affiliatehelpdesk atglobat

I forward the email to help desk

Get an autoresponder saying one of their "Team" will respond at some pont.

    No one ever responded

I resent email to all three addresses:

    THIRD request for response
    I finally get a response:

    Hello Bill,

Thanks for your feed back. This is where we are today. We've discussed providing banners that update with the current promotions and it's a project that is going to require some planning and development time. We are looking into it but I don't have an ETA for you right now. I will continue to push for this change but it will require an allocation of resources and a spec and plan for implementation. So, with that said we'll make a formal announcement once the program get closer to launch.

I know that this may not be the answer that you need right now but it's the only one that I have.

Dear Unsigned Annonomous Globat Team Member (NEVER a good sign!)

What does this have to do with my reversal
    question????????????????????????????????????????????????

    B Knoblach
    Just got this:

    Hi Bill,

Ok, lets take another shot at answering the question. Other could mean a variety of things but it is generally associated with accounts that we're not provisioned due to non payment of the hosting account. this could be because of bad credit card, fraud or the customer changed their mind and cancelled.

    I hope this clarifies things.

    Regards,

    Derrick
    again...WTF?

Since I placed the order, I can safely say it wasn't fraud, stolen credit card or the customer changed his mind!!

But customer WILL be cancelling in about 5 minutes!!!!

    What a business

Another .com bomb hosting and ISP company shoving smoke and mirrors like snake oil salesmen. Adword is the way to go for this verticle ..Hosting. Other good ones for Adwords is Travel, RX pill pushing, Casinos, Credit Cards and the Lending/credit industry. Write great content and hawk the wanks keyword bids. I should write an avoid the "Pit Falls of Web Hosting" page for newbees and clean up.

If you want to promote a hosting company, your best bet is to find reliable places by doing your own research, and then contact them directly about a referral program.

Many of the more reputable places don't advertise an affiliate program but will gladly partner with the right site. Pretty much all are in-house systems so you get paid fast and can promote a legit company to your visitors.

Is there more then one Globat thread?

Someone asked me on another thread if he can help - but he didn't post his email - and didn't have enough posts to PM him

But you CAN tell Bayard Saunders to STOP sending us daily "do we want to upgrade for more money" emails - we have NO accounts with Globat

convenient how globat only seems to look into anything when publicly called-out.

This has been my experience as well.

Try Lunarpages and Hostrocket. They offer good selection of plans, good prices, etc. Haven't had any problems with either of them.

I'm not really in the web hosting sphere, but I've made two sales via MidPhase and both have stuck. And they do have a nice hosting account - I use them for one site.

Billy Kay, if you don't have any hosting accounts with Globat you should not get any emails (since they are obviously aimed at existing customer to "upgrade: their acounts). Can you please forward that email to us at affiliates@globat.com.

Also, there are several other threads out here that involve Globat so you might have come accross another one.

Aviators, I assure you we look into any of the several hundred requests we get each day, public or not, expect that YOU probably won't see the non-public ones. So, if you have any issues, please feel free to dish them out, public or not, so we can address them.

STAY AWAY from hosting merchants. I made 5 sales with Powweb and Bluehost, but never they never paid me a single penny. Took away my commissions.

Globat's official reversal rate (throughout all of 15,000+ affiliates) is less than 7%!!! It is certainly not 100% or we wouldn't pay out over $1,000,000+ in affiliate commissions per year! I can't really comment on how other hosting companies work their affiliate programs, but the fact of the matter is that Globat (as most other hosting companies as well) gets tons of fraudulent orders (pharming, phising, hacking, etc. sites or attempts) through legitimate affiliate links every day. If you find a domain (Globat provides its affiliates with the actual domain name of a referral) in your sales list such as "Verify-your-paypal-here.com" you can safely assume that this referral will be corrected as we won't setup such an order. If this is your one sale in that month, than, yes, you will have a 100% reversal rate. We have a large number of active affiliates and nearly all of them get their commissions paid out every month without any hiccup. If an affiliate like NABEELK above states ends up with 5 reversals out of 5 sales we're as upset about this as the affiliate is since each reversal is costing us money (and we're not making a dime on the sale either).

Globat has a very aggressive anti-fraud policy and all of our incoming orders need to be verified over the phone in order for us to actually "take the order" and setup an account. There's way too much fraud going on to do it any other way. If you advertise on "shady" or certain foreign sites you are bound to have a much higher reversal percentage than our average affiliates.

Now, commission reversals due to cancellations are an entirely different matter. Itís unfortunately a fact that about 5%-7% of all new customers take advantage of the money back guarantee Globat and most other hosts offer. We're right now working on ways and a plan to possibly split these commission losses in excess of the average percentage with our affiliates 50/50, instead of just reversing all commissions. We feel that it's not really fair any other way. Why aren't we doing it already? Simply because we need to automate this whole process to make it feasible for us to do that with hundreds of affiliate transaction every day. So, this one is still a few weeks (of even months depending on speed of development) out, but it will come!

Hope this puts a stop to this crazy "Globat-reverses-100%-of-their-sales-and-is-out-to-screw-us-all" rumor. :-)

What a load of crap. How do you explain the order my mother made? She used here credit card. 2 days later it's reversed for fraudulant order. Funny how she can still login and see her website (that i made) on your system, but it's fraudulant. I filed a complaint with the California BBB and they had a case a mile wide for globat. The woman at the BBB went as far as suggesting that a petition be filed for class action because of all the complaints they had.

cjscooter: No load of crab at all! Globat's reputation with the BBB is actually very good. Care to check our listing? Its at: http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Bu...anyID=13175531. We have a BB rating, which is really good compared to some of the other hosting companies out there. We're a member of the BBB in good standing and we're doing whatever we can to keep it that way. Class actionlawsuit? Come on, man, keep it real!

Now, without being able to really look into your mother's case I can't really comment on this one (you can PM or email me if you like), but if we reversed the charge as fraudulent we didn't take the money and don't open an account (unless it was corrected/classified as fraud after the account was setup - which, for obvious reasons, is rare.
