Anyone have a script that will count uniques & repeats? Any ideas? My server logs say how many sites have called my pages. Does that mean how many unique IP addresses?

    Lost in the sauce, hiccup**

LOL I have asked for a script that counts UNIQUE visitors few minutes before you did!

I don't think cookies would do it - people delete them (I do this once a week).

I guess a counter that stors IP's would do the trick, I hope I'll get a reply on my question which would also solve your problem.

c4, Hmmm... that's odd huh? Well I guess we better get looking for it. Here is a really neat live counter. Would be awesome for high traffic pages. You can just watch the people roll in with out refereshing the page.

    http://www.dcount.net/

Here is a unix script that counts uniques per day

    http://www.btinternet.com/~rasell/ipcounter/

This counter counts both unique visits and page views. Requires SSI.

I think I'll go with this one.

    I'll report back with results.

Well I found a great script for the job. It's capable of counting a guaranteed 1,000,000 uniques per month. $299 HA

Would you believe bravenet now has unique or hit counters for free?

So done with that! <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon38.gif>

    Breeze,

Your server logs have all the information that you need. You just need a log analyzer to analyze them. Go to a shareware site like for example http://www.tucows.com/ and get yourself a nice log analyzer. The best one is WebTrends Log Analyzer http://www.webtrends.com but it is also too expensive. From the shareware ones I would suggest 123LogAnalyzer http://www.123loganalyzer.com/ .

Cool, I'll go with that IP counter, just the thing I need. I'll edit it so it will store IP addresses longer than a day and it should do the job.
    Thanks!
