I want to start a forum on one of my sites. My hosting company, Verio, provides the scripts for WWWBoard. They don't endorse the program. They only say that they know it works on their servers. Anyone here have any experience with WWWBoard? Are there any other free programs to manage Forums that work well?

We use WWWboard on toymania.com - the only problem we have run into is that somewhere around 600 posts, things start to get all wacky. By wacky, I mean that it starts to attach replies to the wrong threads, or double-posting replies.

Since it is such a "low-tech" forum, it is easy for new people to post - they don't have to register, they can just type in the box and hit the post button.

Why not just set one up at delphiforums.com for free and have it open in a new window so you don't lose your visitors?

You can use http://www.proboards.com or http://www.ezboard.com ... They work pretty good.

Thank you everyone for the feeback. I will checkout those sites. I just wanted to stay away from those where I have no control over the banners.

forumotion.com has both phpBB 2 and phpBB 3 as options, and even Invision. I prefer phpBB 3, personally, as it combines some of the best features of phpBB2 and IPB. If I recall correctly from testing the service before getting paid hosting for my message board, it's also ad-free and has some interested add-on modules for you to play along with.

A newbie spamming a thread that is 7 years old.

They sure don't make newbies today like they use too.
