Hi
I am looking at the idea of having an on-line form for the customer to complete and send in to our company.

I know that I have to get my web hosting company to enable FP extentions on their servers (at a cost) but is it easy enough to set things up and make forms?

Do you find that people fill out the forms and send in form information etc?

I know that we get a lot of email questions etc but with a form it might make things a bit better.

Anyway, whats your views on forms.

regards John

Most hosts don't charge extra for enabling FrontPage Server Extentions... They are FREE from Microsoft for most web servers.

Look for a new host if they charge you for something they get for FREE!

Before creating a form you should know what you plan to do with the info submitted in the form.

- Email it to someone
- Store it in a spreadsheet
- INSERT it into a database
- etc.

I prefer database as you can use the collected data in other ways later.

FrontPage is very powerful. It can do all the above plus more!

I have been a web developer for 7+ years and my favorite editor is FrontPage!!!

FP extensions are generally only free if you've got Windoze hosting. If you're on Linux/Unix, the majority of hosts do in fact charge for the service as it is not part of the server platform and AFIAK they are not FREE for them either.

Eaglefire: I'm not sure what AFIAK means. Please define it for me.

Here is a link to get both the UNIX & WINDOWS version of the FrontPage Server Extensions for free:

FrontPage Server Extensions for Unix and Windows.

If you would like I can send you a few URL's of web hosting companies that host both Windows & UNIX FrontPage Server Extensions for no additional charge... aka FREE.

As for your server extensions now being free, well that's very nice of Mr Gates to give things away that aren't being used on his Windows systems. IMHO, he's a very nice man for doing this and I'll just go now and get some server extensions that I need

Thank you for the info
