I'm not sure this is the right forum for this question. Don't know which one would be better, so here goes.

How much of a problem is the issue of older browsers?

I've just spent the best part of three weeks putting together a page with nothing but css. I used all of the W3C recommendations for the older browsers, the accessability needs, etc.

It flies thru the W3C tests, but I don't like it. Very bland. As in 'blah'. Problems with floating in images and keeping all the boxes where they are supposed to be has my hair coming out in large bunches.

So my question...Should I go back to java script and tables? Letting the older browsers and non java enabled users blow on by?

    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hello Frank,

I believe that the old browser issues are days gone by ... you may possibly see a .005% (doubtful) still using antique computer technology. In our entire service time .. I think we recorded only 1 or 2 browsers using IE3 or lower. Hope that helps answer some of your dilemma.

    Thanks Ray.

More or less what I thought. The W3c is really interested to see that our new fangled pages will 'downgrade' gracefully.

From what I have read though, we may need to be interested more in the new devices. If you want Palm, PDA's, etc, to be able to view your pages more code changes are required.

Probably not too many sales from those devices tho.

    Thanks again,
    Frank
