    Hi All,

I hope one of you (or several of you) can help me.

I'm making a new site where people will be buying an information product. Are there any suggestions on how to create an effective and cheap way to create a member's section for people to access the information? Here is what I'm hoping to have happen:

    1) The visitor clicks the buy button on my site (for PayPal, credit card, or both - I haven't decided yet).
    2) A unique login and password is generated for them and immediately sent to their email address.

I would also like to have access to all the info and have a script (or whatever) check for abuse/fraud with the login and password.

Is there a script available for this that is inexpensive? I appreciate any ideas or suggestions you guys can give me.

    Dignan,

There are quite a few more variables involved in securing your product from mass (free) distribution or hacking than just a membership script. I'd suggest you start Here and then when you know what you need, get it built into a shopping cart with a serial code validator.

Thanks Haiko. But how does Clickbank prevent mass distribution? I've bought an information product from a Clickbank merchant before and it was incredibly simple to get around the member's section the merchant had set up. Also, since I'm only selling one product, do I really need to use a shopping cart?

I've seen Mamber's section scripts around, varying from $20 - $500. I'm just not sure which ones are good and which ones suck.

There are several free membership manager scripts around as well. If you want a purchase cart and membership password activation manager all in one .. PayPal setup is a good bet and cost $0 to start.

You can add a fraud access manager to the membership area easily after setup to monitor IP's who enter with particular signin info.

    Hope that helps.
