    That is what firewalls are for. We block everyone once they hit a limit, the firewall handles it automatically and then mails us reports.

    Zone alarm is not designed for servers and should not be used on them.

    I had good luck with my Watchguard SOHO (personal hardware firewall) when I had it.

    For personal use, almost any decent router by netgear or the likes should have a sufficient firewall built-in these days.

    If it is for the office and you want to connect in and have VPN or have a dmz zone then something like ffoc links to or a similar product by sonicwall.
