I just got the following email from Amazon:

    <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Dear Associate,

On Friday, we discovered we underpaid you for a small percentage of your marketplace orders in the first two quarters of 2003. We’re crediting your account by $ **.**, our best estimate of the additional amount you are owed.

We’re in the process of going through all our logs to determine the exact amount you’re owed. If we find it’s more than what we’ve credited you, we’ll make this adjustment in your next quarterly payment.

We also estimate that you’ve sold no more marketplace units in the third quarter than are currently listed in Associates Central. The issue was that a small portion of 2003 marketplace sales was not being tracked through August 16. This has been fixed and starting August 17, your marketplace sales are being tracked correctly. We’re working on amending your reports from July 1 through August 16 and will post a message in Associates Central when they’re up-to-date.

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience.

    Sincerely,

    Dave Schappell
    Director, Amazon.com Associates Program
http:/www.amazon.com/associates<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Anyone else get this? It sounds just like CJ's mistake last month. I'm glad that Amazon and CJ are able to admit their mistakes, but I can't help wondering how many other programs have screwed up tracking.

Received the same email with the same exact wording, and I thought we were "special".

BTW, as we are still waiting for our first ever cheque from Amazon for the last quarter, may I ask normally when do they actually issue the cheque for the quarter just ended?

To think that LinkShare and beFree are slow with their payments...

When I was paid at the end of the last quarter, it was July 30th when the money was paid into our account. It is supposed to take 30 days after the end of the quarter. If you receive a check, the check will be sent on the 30th

I got the email too. I don't get a check, but my money was direct deposited in about 30 days, like always.

I too received the same letter.

At least they are being upfront about it.

Is this the same "Marketplace" affiliate enabled merchant aggregrator showing up on some threads here? You'd think Amazon who be gun shy of teaming up with a profit share deal with outsiders.

I'm envious ... we have promoted amazon for 2 years ... made 1 sale with a commission for $1.05 and has never grown from there. We removed almost all amazon links except for the code language books in a targeted section .. receives traffic .. but NEVER a sale. Guess we may make enough profits to receive a check by the year 2099 (hope).

    Ian,

Cusimano ( www.c3scripts.com ) has developed scripts to read the XML from Amazon as well as scripts for allposters, gocollect and photorazzi. I love the amazon one! Anyone can make nice sites like - http://palmsnmore.com/ (mine) Make sure to click on a product like http://palmsnmore.com/cgi-bin/amazon...rch=B00009RL1Y or like our bookstore - http://www.abestweb.com/bookstore Or just a clone of all the products at amazon with their look and feel - http://www.buy-here-and-save.com/

They have a forum here also - http://abw.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=frm&...79&f=426609789

I think all my Amazon links were pulled 3 years ago. Got tired of their never ending changes to their TOS. They also royally screwed up the Amazon Stores section for some clients so I never looked at them again. Seems like recycling pop cans is more profitable.

I am amazed at how everyone likes to complain about the Amazon program, and I agree it could be better.

However, I started with Amazon as my first venture into affiliate marketing using the Cusimano scripts. I have five sites that are using this script - targeted like Haiko did, not just a complete copy.

These were started in the Jan-March 2003 timeframe. In July I made just over $1000 aggregate from these sites. There does seem to be a trust that people have with Amazon, which does help the conversion.

Get the Cusimano script, and build some, I think you will be surprised.
