I asked Amazon to look at the recent "Ebates overwriting.." thread if they are as serious about parasites as they claim. They simply love the scumware sites and delight in featuring them despite the strong feelings of the associates on the boards. I suspect they delight in rubbing their associates' noses in this crap.

I have a feeling that their traffic details tell us a story..

    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/tr...ww.ebates.com/

They probably started more active overwriting about the time the line started going up.....

    Ebates

I'm sure the networks just think it's a coincidence that our documentation and their traffic increases occur at the same time...

And I guess the networks and merchants are going to continue to violate their agreements with all their affiliates by letting these scumbags overwrite cookies...

With the attitude in America right now about big corporations and the abuse they dish out, I wouldn't want to be in court trying to defend myself and my company's actions before a jury...but it looks like that's what it's going to take to put a stop to this!

    Well, congratulations to eBates.

By the way, they were still overwriting within the past few days, although it was sporadic.

    Pre-October, I was converting at a poor 1 sale per 150 clicks

since the start of October, I am converting at around 1 / 650 clicks

    Barely covering the bandwidth!

Everytime I see that graph, I get angry! Bloodsucking leeches! Bottom feeders! Thieves!

And now for my opinion of the networks that allow this...better take blood pressure medicine first...oops, I don't take blood pressure medicine...better get some first...

I'm still unclear as to how ebates "overwrites" another associate's cookie. At what point in the hit-click-sale process does it happen? And is there no way to prevent it?

Why would Amazon not take action, if this is happening so frequently?

Perhaps most of their affiliates are not aware of the issue?

Sorry to be dense, but I've never understood this "overwriting" thing.

For the most part these days on the merchant's site once you've sent them there. For some of the parasite's (not ebates), it can happen on your site (whenu/gator).

It's Your Money. You earned it. What are you going to do to make sure you get to keep it?

So, if I send someone to Amazon's home page with my URL ID, and they have ebates on their computer, my cookie will be "overwritten?"

Does this happen like every time?

    Wow.

As if being an affiliate wasn't tough enough already!
