    ... compared to this.

Recieved an email from Bluefly recently regarding the recent tracking problems. In this email they announce they are extending their cookie duration from 15 to 45 MINUTES.

    This is completely absurd.

I dumped their links a while ago but others may not be aware of this.

(But it is unlimited action occurences, so they got that goin' for 'em.)

A Zebra has trouble changing their spots. BlueFly was a real conversion looser from the first day on the internet. Zero cookie days, 100.00 Minimum, quarterly payout brand pushing advewrtiser just like Gateway's indy program.

If their new AM wants to learn the ropes and even be justified to enter the same room occupied by TigerDirects Andy ...then they best read all of TD posts for starters. If not then they are just another Eyeball gatherer and parasite player like Walmart or Smartbargains.

I agree this is totaly absurd.

The funny thing is that many people probably never realized just how bad the cookie duration was (and remains to be) and by promoting this "enhancement in their program" they only shoot themselves in the foot.

Maybe one day they'll realize they have to eliminate tracking problems (which has been an ongoing issue) and come up with better enhancements than this to have good affiliates actively marketing them!

"Recieved an email from Bluefly recently regarding the recent tracking problems"

So are they tracking? The Bluefly AM brought this up, but then disappeared without following up.

"The funny thing is that many people probably never realized just how bad the cookie duration was "

Um, count me in that group. I recently signed up with them. The prices are and product are great. I thought we would do ok even with lousy terms, because we have such demand for some of their items.

But the lack of sales, suggests I was wrong, especially when compared to how well we are doing with Amazon for the same products at double the price.

Somebody please let me know when a) the tracking is fixed, b) the parasites are not being given special coupons, and c) the cookie is fair.

Jeeeze, they might have been better off to say, "We are increasing our cookie duration by 50%!!!" That woulda read a lot better, lol. Jeeeze, those cookies get eaten while their still warm from the cooking.

45 minutes? Wow, someone could click an affiliate link, go to Bluefly, and then go do some shopping, and just about get back in time to buy something, and we would get a commission!
Wow, what a concept. You have heard of a mini-mall. Is this a mini-cookie?

    hazydazy -

Thanks for posting this. I've been running Bluefly forever and sales were VERY poor last month with a 50% increase in click-thru's. This explains why.

And it stinks. Nice way to treat those of us busting our backsides to bring sales to them.

I just noticed eLuxury (if anyone's running them at LS) also has a cookie of approximately
0.00017th of a day. Don't know what that works out to be in minutes

I'm a math teacher in my day job :-)

    OK affiliate math 101
    15 minutes to 45 minutes is a 200% increase ;-)

and 0.00017 of a day is a little over 14.5 seconds

For a merchant with a sub one hour cookie, if the action occurred during the same browser session, but an hour after initial clickthrough, would the affiliate get credit or not? I'd think so due to it being during the same session, but, I'm not sure?

One day I'll have to become a merchant (or work for one) for some time just to get a better understanding of how all the tracking technologies work behind the scenes. <- my dunce cap

    Mike,

Thanks for the math wizadry I'd seriously be LMAO over the 14.5 seconds if it weren't such a lame cookie offering -- I'm pretty sure it's a merchant insult.

[they are extending their cookie duration from 15 to 45 MINUTES]

    Is this for real...what the

I thought they genuinely wanted to get their
aff program going, they've just had millions poured into them but with this turn of events, obviously not!

Actually I've been pulling their links for months now as they've been going downhill.

Last month sent them over 5000 clicks with the few links of theirs I have left for peanuts, a few days ago I changed the links to another merchant, 320 clicks for $1600 sales in 2 days...
    bye bye bluefly....

ROLMAO ...asking BlueFly to address "Somebody please let me know when a) the tracking is fixed, b) the parasites are not being given special coupons, and c) the cookie is fair."

They just had to borrow 1 million in cash from their Angel Investor Sarcos Ltd. just to make ends meet. Their stock sells for 84 cents and going down.

I don't understand why these AMs just leave when affiliates start to give good constructive feedback like this.
