Can't imagine why Reporting.net has blocked me from accessing their site with Opera 7.

It does a better job of supporting CSS and web standards than IE does.

It also occurred to me that a blind person using a screen reader would not be able to access BeFree at all since they only let IE and Netscape in.

Yes, it works very well with Opera 7 pretenting it's IE6. In fact we made some quick changes last fall when we launched the Partner Gateway to fix some Opera display problems (even though it's not "officially" supported.)

I wasn't aware that we blocked the Opera agent, yeah, maybe we shouldn't. I'll look into that.

Opera must act like IE6 by default because I've never heard of this, never had this problem myself, and I don't think I've ever changed that setting.

Scott, I'm running Opera 7.11. I did not change the default setting and it is set to "Identify as Opera."

    The message I get is:

Be Free recommends using the Windows versions of Internet Explorer 5.5 and above, Navigator 6.0 and above, or Mozilla 1.0 and above to view the Partner Gateway. You may want to download the latest version of one of the following browsers:

    Internet Explorer
    Netscape Navigator
    Mozilla

    Thank you,
    Be Free, Inc.

aroach, I'm with you. I know the error page, I don't doubt that you haven't changed the settings. I'm just sharing my own experience.

The page you see doesn't mean we're anti-opera, we're only allowing you to view reporting.net with browsers that we're sure it works with -- the ones listed, the ones we've tested. It's a matter of testing resources and percentage of marketshare.

Perhaps we should ease up on that a bit and let you in with Opera as it appears to be fine.

In the meantime, now you know how to work around it.

I'm impressed that Moz 1.0 is allowed and Opera isn't..
