I've poked around, but can't find my answer. I'd like some background on datafeeds from BeFree. We don't use the network much. Do all merchants offer Datafeeds? I know there's a signup form, but do you need separate approval for each merchant? Is there a fee for a datafeed?

    Any and all insight appreciated!

    There is no fee.
Not all merchants have a datafeed, maybe 30 or so do.
You do not need seperate approval for each merchant.
I think that Befree will have tight regulations and restrictions on who use the feeds, but your site should have no problems

Generally, only performance and/or select partners have that access. If you are not one of those, you could just ask the reps there for access.

Clearly, I am procrastinating. I should be making some links within BeFree...I'll do that right after this important note:

CollectiblesToday.com offers a datafeed through BeFree!

    Go here: www.befree.com/datafeed
and type "CollectiblesToday" in the box for Affiliate Site Name. If you type in any other merchant's name, it won't work. (Just kidding, Scott don't get mad. )

    We love our datafeed affiliates!

Actually, the affiliate site name field is for the Applicant's site name, not for the merchant name you're an affiliate of.

Doesn't matter. After we get the application, we figure out which feeds you want. Feel free to put that in either of the text comment fields, however.

    I don't get mad.
(ObDon has come close though. )

Applied early this morning ... no response. This can be frustrating when I'm hyped up to get some work done. I know it's a holiday, but that's the problem with having a 9-5 middleman.

Guess I'll have to wait until Tuesday, after the holiday, but then I have another BeFree data feed to get straightened out then too.

I normally don't work with middlemen on datafeeds. This is one reason why.

"...but that's the problem with having a 9-5 middleman."

Now that's a great way to build a relationship with your network.

I like to build relationships that are functional, Fred. I can't keep bankers hours here. The web is open 24/7.

Just ranting, though. I'll get over it.

    Whiznot,

Your feed will be available in the morning.

    .... apologies are due.

Well, I have to exclude BeFree from the nine to fivers.

My rant wasn't anything personal Scott. Look forward to working with you.

    Hi Scott,

I just applied a few moments ago. Hopefully, your response to my application will be as expedient as your response to Whiznot.

    TIA,

    Chris,

Anything received on friday am was taken care of by end of day.

Drop me an email so I can tell who you are in case an email was missed or lost in delivery.

Nevermind, found it. Don't know what happened, but you'll have an email when you return to work.

If rejected will anyone tell me? I got the list of available feeds but the emails I send back about the ones I want seem to keep getting lost.

Have you still not received a response? Feeds are a hot commodity and we can get backed up. We surely got your emails and are working toward setting it up.

I find that the usefulness of a datafeed depends on whether it include category and subcategory information. I am extensively using BeFree and CJ feeds, which, by the way, are "combinable" if need be.

I have found the BeFree feeds from Scott to be better than the CJ feeds since they (almost always) include Primary Category and Secondaary Category fields.

CJ has similar fields in their datafeeds, but most merchants are not providing that information.
