Did anyone else get the boot today from Yankee Candle?

I got my friendly little notice today:

    quote:
We are writing to inform you that we have audited Yankee Candle's affiliate member sites and have determined that SNIP-SNIP.com is not consistent with our program objectives.

We therefore regret to inform you that we will be disabling your account. You will be paid for the sales accrued from visitors linking from your site through the date your site is disabled.

We ask that you immediately remove any links associated with Yankee Candle's Affiliate Program, as you will not receive compensation for earnings beyond the date your site is disabled.

The Yankee Candle Affiliate Program Team

Anyone else get one of these? Any ideas what is going on?

In case anyone is wondering, I edited my website's name out . . .

If you can sell candles, try candlepeople.com - probably a lot more to offer than what you had.

candlespeople is not going to be any kind of replacement for Yankee Candles. People who love Yankee Candles are only going buy Yankee candles. Checking my email now and don't see any notice.

It was a mistake, contacted them and got this in return:

We had just did a disable that was only supposed to disable affiliates who generated less than $100 in shipped sales since January. Obviously you do not fall under that category. I have contacted the person on our tech side responsible and have asked that we get you reactivated ASAP. I will keep you posted.

Agreed, it's a whole different class of candles. At least in the minds of the buyers! Plus the "pine" ones probably really smell like pine at Yankee, and not some odd musky stuff

Of course, the price is significantly different as well...

I'll have to agree with leader... NO ONE can come close to the quality AND burn time of Yankee. Candles there consistently burn 3 - 5X longer and smell 100% better than most other places. They are worth the extra.

I can sell them through another channel at a higher commission if they boot me, it just means I would need to change some links.

I haven't checked email in a couple of hours, but I know I haven't had $100 in shipped sales this year. I haven't been able to sell candles at all for several months...

I got the same message but won't be going to them asking to get back in.

The way I look at it is if they are this poor at running their affiliate program they don't deserve the business I might be sending their way.

Also I don't believe the excuse they gave Connie: if they were only disabling affiliates who aren't generating sales why does their email specifically state "we have audited Yankee Candle's affiliate member sites and have determined that (url deleted) is not consistent with our program objectives"

We are just about to enter the busiest quarter of the year, and Yankee Candle boot a bunch of affiliates. Smart move

Candles (quality candles) are a great seller over the Christmas period. Any decent affiliate should be able to sell a brand name such as Yankee Candle if they market them sensibly.

Why boot affiliates 3 months before Christmas?

As I see it, Yankee Candle simply made a mistake in accidentally removing some affiliates. There's no way they intentially removed some of the affiliates who were removed. I'm not upset at them and I will continue to promote them for the forseeable future. Human error creates havoc at times.

It could be as simple as their IT department made a wrong mouse click and it had nothing to do with a management decision. Yankee Candle is a good company with good products and I'm pleased to continue to work with them.

    Hi all:

Glad I found the topic that I've been looking for.

I was removed and I replied with concerns and questions without reading the second eamil (about being a mistake).

What a relief, I thought. But I found out that I had already been disabled the following day. So I asked them again what is right and what is not. I got no response whatsoever.

I had to remove their links. It's been days and I finally decided to forward my email to the contats from their site. I just learned from this forum that they removed affiliates who made <$100 in sales since Jan. So I went to check my report and see that I have made over $500 since. Of course at the same time I noticed that the links area is available to me!!! Doesn't it mean that I am still in?

I wonder why they never bothered responding my email? Is there a problem with my email account after their first 2 emails?

I honestly don't know what I should do, put their links back to my sites or not?

I've had the similar incidence with Crane Paper Co. more than a year ago (about a sale with no $$). I removed their links and never put them back in because I feel that they do not know how to respect me.

    thanks for reading

*I may be wrong about this* but...

If you have multiple sites listed in your BF interface, I believe that a merchant can disable some but not all of them. In other words, they may "disable" mydomain1.com, but mydomain2.com and mydomain3.com would remain active.
