    Spammed with this one...
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEND
    MILLIONS OF MESSAGES PER MONTH
TO AN AUDIENCE OF 178 MILLION
    WITHOUT USING EMAIL?!?

What if I told you that you can :

http://www.ghostmessage.com We have the answer. We have developed a software which will allow you to instantly send messages to any IP address in the world. That's right, instantly ! There are no longer ISP blacklists to fight, changing of hosts, looking for new relays. Just write your message, select the geographical area you want to target and hit the send button ! That's it.

Sometimes within minutes of hitting send, you will notice a surge in your website traffic. And you know something else? About 85% of all computers connected to the internet already have the ability to receive your messages !

I can see where that would be an excellent marketing technique. I know I’m predisposed to do business with a company that exploits a security flaw in a piece of my software to hack into my system.

I get popup windows on my server sometimes advertising stuff. Is this the same thing?

The first time I saw it, I was really taken aback...

It could be, but it could also be coming from somewhere else. If you look down at the paristeware section you’ll see a host of programs that will generate popups. I’ve seen some that just popup at random no matter what you’re doing. It’s really annoying to be typing something and have a new window pop up. Especially if you are like me and have to look at the keyboard while typing, so you don’t notice the new window until you’ve typed three or four paragraphs into oblivion.

Another great spyware.adware detect and removal program can be found at http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=bots

I downloaded it and made sure I unchecked the purge cookies section and also allowed LS -BF and CJ link tracking in their HOSTs file. It found 9 more programs on my system missed by Ad-Adaware who seems to be dropping the ball on new theftwarez program profiles.

Another great read on the newest parasite/adware tactic is the Webpopup that gets Ads & cookies sent right to your desktop

It's using the MS Messenger Service, which is usually used to send a short message through a network (has nothing to do with the Alert Service).

I got tons of those ads at the end of last year.
It only affects Windows Systems. It's simple to get rid of it. Just deactivate the Microsoft Messenger Service on your machine and everything is fine.

If you need the service in your network, check on microsofts websites which port is used by the service (don't have it in mind) and block it with your firewall.

    By the way.
You do not need any software to deactive the service. I got last year a message through that service offering a software to get rid of it (like a spam email with the option to pay to be removed from the spammers mailing list ).

Paul ..some of the NETBIOS "messenger service" adware popup spammers actually script their system infection script to approve their connect to ZoneAlarm and other S/W firewalls. Happens so quick ZoneAlarm gets no chance to show an alert.
