If you have any programming experience then Outlook does support VBA and you can program it to do most things, provided Microsoft have put the relevant fields in their datamodel.

As an example of what you can do I have got a button on mine that kicks off some VBA code that will process an email generated by a contact form and append the data as a new row in an Excel spread sheet. To a while to figure what I needed to do but then the coding was quite straightforward.

Mind you when it comes to spam it is probably best to get it filtered at ISP end or use somethign like MailWasher, so it doesn't get to your mailbox in the first place.

I used to have a terrible problem with spam on my Demon account as I have had it since 1997 and for the first year I was a real newbie and didn't realise that putting raw emails addresses on a web page was not a good idea. I used to dread going on hols and having an inbox overflowing with spam on my return. However last year Demon implemented Brightmail to filter spam and I hardly get any unwanted mail these days.

    Thanks for your post.

    Unfortunately I'm not a programmer.

I'll have a look at what my ISP provided. I think I've seen spam arrest mentioned somewhere.

    easy solution.....

get thunderbird it can be setup to flag and delete spam as it comes in... i ahve it setup to delete viagra, get a bigger member, and porn...

I never see these anymore... I went from wading thruogh 700 email everytime I checked my email to less then 20 by setting up junk, spam, and sorting filters...

    best part... thunderbird is free..

    Well...

It depends on which version of Outlook you're trying to delete the SPAM from.

    Outlook 2003

    Actions > Junk E-mail > Junk E-mail Options

Set the strength of the tagging by Outlook, then select the Permanately delete suspected junk e-mail instead of moving it to the Junk E-mail folder.

    ***WARNING***
If you set the level too high, you will lose legitimate e-mail, especially relevant to this forum, affiliate marketing newsletters from your signed up programs, UNLESS you've already tagged them as approved senders, and add any new affiliate program you join to the approved senders list *BEFORE* joining.

So the permanate delete option is not a good idea for affiliate marketers.

Just set it to send any message sent from anyone who is not in your contacts list to the recycle bin...

Empty deleted items on exit... done..
