Looks like a winning script for the 57.00. Since it uses Pearl, sendmail and MySQL most hosting companies will have these tools to make it work. The bonus is they have no backdoor or online ASP servide to collect your referral script e-mails to spamm outsiders.

I'd recommend turboreferer.com run a spell checker on their pages to eliminate the typos (first impressions count) and add a simple page for installation instructions and common pitfalls like the path to pearl or sendmail variations. I'd recommend using their e-mail feature sparingly, since it has no seperate list management features to edit the MySQL e-mail address database or an option to send mail to just the buyers.

Anyone here buy this script? Post your feedback as I have some clients who could use it.

Let me get this straight (and I am being careful how I word it since the product is created by The Internet Company)

You have a customer who wants to buy your product. Instead of trying to close them, you are telling them to put off the purchase and tell some friends? You have to be kidding me.

I am stunned. Little kids know the rule, ABC. This is the exact opposite. Are you just advertising for your company so people can come to your site and admire your layout, or are you trying to sell your product?

Wouldn't a better idea be, sell the product to the guy who wants to buy it, and then have your product be of such a quality the buyer would tell their friends?

This is a script for scams and scum. Get ready for your ip to be listed on spam lists and your sales to drop.

Just poked around a little more. This site kills me. Notice, no privacy statement? For a site that collects email addresses and names, not having a privacy statement says alot. Sure, they could lie and make one up, but not even bothering to put one up? Why do I think these guys have nothing to do with sales?

For a good laugh check their referrals. They messed the link up so it doesn't click, but here it is.

    Notice the email referrers? hehehe

We all have to start somewhere and obviously these guys in Greece are programmers not necessarily marketers. I personally would use the shopping cart checkout "thank you" page for promoting this referral form link. Strange they would use their own e-mail marketing referral tool and not get any e-mail links tracked to the stat server from referrer signups. Mostly lurkers like us and very few sales even from the clickBank crew to activate e-mail links.

I have a few clients who requested I install a "refer a friend" script so I used a small perl autopilot type script for this. Now some of these clients would like to "incent" the referrals with a free gift or accumulate cash/product discounts to reward referrers if their referee buys from their link. A cheap mini-affiliate program with a buildup of credits to get the gift or accumulate the cash reward to apply towards a product purchase or a check if they accumulate a 25.00 minimum. Since the program is self contained I don't run the risk of an ASP service going belly up or charging a huge fee for continuing the service.

If the program owners progress beyond "ClickTrade" recruiting efforts and get some monies flowing they might add some useful bells & whistles. A support forum would be a good start on their site.

Someone here buy the script so I'm not the only guinny pig and provide feedback beyond our usual skeptomism. Dr Evil your too much! Most ABWers would have thought of a FREE AOL 1000 hr CD or "make money at home kit" rather than Ginsu Knives.

Thank you all for being so authentic in your
comments. Truth is the best prize you can
give. Thanks for being so sincere - all
comments will be considered thoroughly and
this is the ONLY board that gave us a neat
sincere opinion. You'll see our improvements
    in the near future.

What we'd like to UNDERLINE is that we do
try HARD to offer what we believe it is a unique
script and we do our best on this.

    BlueX:
    =============
We've spent some 100s of hours for the development of
the website and that's the 3rd try - chance of the layout.
Your comments could be more of help if you'd be specific
what kind of "support" and "resources" you'd like to see.

    Chez Noir:
    =============
That hit us! We thought that FREE was a magic word
    when talking about sales online:-)
You see, someone else could ask:
"Why don't you put TurboReferer in action in YOUR site
first and then try selling it to us..." Isn't that fair?
And of course you're wrong when saying that
"This is a script for scams and scum. Get ready for your ip
to be listed on spam lists and your sales to drop."
    Why?
MANY referral systems exist on the Net and do not
provide what TurboReferer does - are they too "scripts
for scams and scum"??? Is Recommend-it.com a script
for scam too? Or what about "Let-them-know"???

The OPPOSITE happens and you know it: it's the only
script that can track sales and the referrer would NOT
risk of being accused as a spammer - because he would
never get the bonus or what ever. If you'd give it a try
you'd read our Anti-Spam policy stated above the referral
    form.

It's good to be sincere but don't be unfair.
But, you're right 100%: It's our fault for not having
included a Privacy Policy. It'll be added soon.

As for the tracker, we admit it: TurboReferer
went online on July 2002. What would you expect?
We do not have any support on this and no partners
to make us "famous" with their lists.
However Chez, we have sold 11 pieces in one month.
    And that's a good sign, isn’t it?

    Dr. Evil:

We can lead you to many URLs that offer also a
"bamboo steamer" and many gifts if you order before
midnight. Do you suggest that The Big Guys have the
right to use these techniques while foreigners are
somewhat "tropic" when trying to apply what the
so-called Gurus of the Internet Marketing have tought
them??? Please point us to a "healthy" website
that can be respected in your opinion.

    EcomCity.com:
    =============
Thanks for your objective comments- we really appreciate
    it.

And of course sorry for all typos in this message too.
It'd be easier for us if we'd reply in Greek.

    Yours,
    A small Greek company

They do respond promptly to all my e-mail request. That's a good indicator. They also have a nice automated ebook for install instructions. From what I see the referral script is setup mainly for tracking referral sales from a standard form or ClickTrade sales order form that captures the cookied links for referral reward credits.

Still not clear on if it can work with any existing shopping cart to record referral credits. Great for eBooks and other digital download or limited product/service sales sites. Guess they were emersed in the web guru-get traffic crowd when developing the script.
