This site was able to persuade WhenU to stop serving ads on their site.
    http://www.allaboutsex.org/pop-up_ads.html

Therefore WhenU has the capability to stop their ads from appearing on selected sites. How might WhenU respond if hundreds and thousands webmasters like us asked for our sites to be put on WhenU's "cease and desist" list too?

I'm going to think about it overnight. Anyone else have thoughts, suggestions for how to word letters, etc?

If WhenU has been serving porn ads on sites that happen to have the letters "sex" in the domain, what has been happening to a merchant like LensExpress? Leader, what about your site like that? I shudder to think about it!

    Let me check my stats.

Just pulled up the other screen. While I'll keep the specifics off the board, the numbers don't look like there's been a noticable affect on that site's performance...

Other than that I don't know. But I'm not going to shudder about it...the statistics on that site look fine which I don't think they would if a statistically significant amount of people got bombed with porno popups when they tried to shop!

As for suggestions on what to do to get on the No Popup List, I would probably ask AllAboutSex what they did... they may be quite willing to tell the method if they hate WhenU as a matter of principle as opposed to a plain business-decision type of opposition.

Maybe Whenu figured a site selling beginner sex courses and "Sex for Dummies" how to guide books might not be a hotbed of smart shoppers.

Did either of you LOOK at the link I gave before you made your comments?

Mike, they are an educational, no-advertising-whatever site for teens and pre-teens. Leader, they said exactly what they wrote to WhenU, and also printed WhenU's reply.

And about your own site, Leader, my point wasn't so much about the percentage of people getting porn popups, what I'm wondering is what's happening for those who do? It's something to think about, because the problem is not going to get smaller or go away by itself.

Quite the opposite to a lot of our sites. Ours are all (usually) commercial sites cram packed full of product advertising.
We are not in the same category as allaboutsex.org at all.

Having whenu operate on a site such as this serves no purpose to whenu, and this is why it was removed.
There IS a purpose (from whenu's point) having it pop-up on merchant sites, or our sites.

Well you can stop shuddering over my site, at least, Buckworks--I asked Haiko to check it out and he says nothing is popping on it.

I will admit I didn't look at the first site, but I assumed it had nothing to do with porn because if it did, you wouldn't have thought porn popups were surprising. And your description of that site shows my assumption was correct!
